I have something similar, but i worked it out a little bit differently R/G Bloodrush Werewolves

I won games against two different Izzet decks (one casual, one Standard) and a Selesnya aggro deck. I might be getting another Cavern of Souls, what do you think?

I won a few games against an old white Allies deck and an Izzet-colored Commons Only deck, and I lost a game to an Finks combo deck (I didn't mulligan for that one, though, since my opponent only had five minutes before he had to go to class).

I have poor impulse control. You can probably see where in the decklist.Anyways, does this look like it will do decently in FNM?

Fibbe says... #5

That REALLY depends on your meta... the only way to figure out if something will do well at an FNM is to go to a store on a friday night and play magic...

I still think Reckless Waif  Flip is... terribad in the most horrible way possible... but other than that, I see no immediate faults

Reckless Waif  Flip really lost her sting when most players I played against started using one-drops, keeping her from flipping, and she wasn't the most effective if I drew her later on. I replaced two of her with Wolfbitten Captive  Flip , and I'm going to see if I have any other low cost cards to take the last one's place.

I also tweaked the Basic Lands a bit, to skew it slightly more towards green. Also, I foiled out the Kessig Wolf Run s. They're a bit disappointing to be honest, the only foiling is on the upper blue part (around where the subtle werewolf is) and the frame.

Thinking about the meta and werewolve, you cant stay gruul. Its too hard to stay Gruul atm. You either need to go Black/Green/Red or White/Green/Red.

Reason #1 : You need to protect yourself against a mass treats :

Aggro deck will rush you with an army of weenie. Control deck will wipe the board. Moonmist will only protect you from the weenie attack. Charms will protect you against both. Golgari Charm (Regenerate) and Boros Charm (indestructible) do the trick. They also have other useful abilities. Golgari taking down key enchantments like Intangible Virtue or Boros killing an annoying planeswalker.

Reason #2 : Big Flyers

You cant deal with Griselbrand and Angel of Serenity or even Thundermaw Hellkite . Your only option is to get Plummet in your sideboard. My Team Pavlov went Naya for Selesnya Charm . That way, I can EXILE them so they cant be brought back with Unburial Rites . If you were Golgari, you could get simple Murder or better yet next expansion : Putrefy .

Reason #3 : Flipping more

Bloodrushing creatures wont help you flip your werewolves when you need it. You can also only buff an attacking creature, thus you cant surprise your opponent by baiting him into an attacking and buffing a blocker. As for red, the only good gruul instant is Searing Spear I would suggest going 3 colors for more instant variety. Also, consider Wolfir Avenger since everyone seems to be running Thragtusk to which the Avenger is a direct counter.

Reason #4 : Win Conditions

I see only 2 win condition at the moment. First, buffing a Terror of Kruin Pass  Flip with bloodrush from Ghor-Clan Rampager . It wont happen often with 2 Rampager and 3 Outlaw and with all the removal running around. Other than that, there is always the good old Moonmist tricks you can do. If I were you, I would try to get more low cmc buffs like Giant Growth and a 4th outlaw in the deck. Rush of Blood also comes to mind to seal the deal, but only 2 of it. Mayor of Avabruck  Flip can also become a win condition if you can protect him with charms (regen or indestructible), or even with simple cards like Ranger's Guile . Flip him, then protect him from the next turns nuke.

I hope that helped.

Gruul Charm is also extremly useful against those black/white spirit deck.

I'm going to try out a deck build similar to your Naya Werewolves (Probably substituting the Garruks for Domris), and see how I like it. I'll keep this one separate, though, since I like it as is for now.

The Naya Team Pavlov was an experiment. I reverted it back to Jund (with the addition of Putrefy coming in the next expansion. If you want better results, go Jund. Check my last comment in Team Pavlov to understand what counters Naya had ; which was too many.

Also, Jund Team Pavlov biggest counter was Super Friends deck (Mass Planeswalker), but those decks costs like 400$ and above to make and only one person plays one of those deck at my local FNM.

I'm keeping my deck Gruul until I can get the right lands, so I'm curious, what do you guys think of Flesh / Blood ? It worked wonders in the prerelease for me even without Flesh , and won me quite a few games.

I'm also thinking about trying Armed / Dangerous . That, and I pulled a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed .

Hey, I got a second Bonfire of the Damned in a trade, should I replace my Mizzium Mortars with it? Also, thoughts on Flesh / Blood for this deck?

Very nice, I've been looking for ideas for a werewolf deck since I only started playing after that block was released :)

For the record, Ratchet Bomb is in M14. Bad news for the wolves.

May 24, 2013 5:25 p.m.

Orohu says... #15

Ugh, why did they have to reprint Ratchet Bomb ? (Probably to make Emmara Tandris feel useful) Oh well, werewolves aren't as bad a percieved threat as they were back in Scars/Innistrad standard, so I don't think this will be sideboarded as much.

to deal with Ratchet Bomb just run 4 Full Moon's Rise . WOW one more field wipe exists. big deal. What is he gunna do clear your field turn 2?. no. If your being smart about it you'll have a Full Moon's Rise ready to regen your field. Full Moon's Rise is not a great card because it gives trample. Full Moon's Rise is an insane card because it gives an aggro deck a way to deal with a field wipe. I, for the life of me, cannot think of one reason you do not have an extra two in side board for a control deck.

I would consider:

for aggro:

4x Pillar of Flame

1x Searing Spear

for artifact heavy

3x Ancient Grudge

for control

2x Full Moon's Rise

2x Wolfir Silverheart

and for graveyard abusers

3x Grafdigger's Cage

I haven't updated this decklist in two years, but I have indeed changed Lightning Bolts in the slots that held Searing Spear.

So I know this deck is really old, but: No Howlpack Resurgence? I guess you don't NEED them since you have other boosting cards like Immerwolf and Mayor of Avabruck  Flip but maybe swap a Full Moon's Rise out for one? Just a suggestion. I have 4 in my wolf deck.
