What about the classic Mycosynth Lattice / March of the Machines

March 3, 2014 10:40 p.m.

You know, that's funny because that was one of the first cards I considered when I originally decided on Arcum as a commander, but I find that Karn does that same job and allows me to control when they are creatures (Only for the one turn). Plus, MotM would just wipe all my lands combined with lattice, even if they were indestructible. I'm more in favor of the one-sided board wiping ;)

Amulet of Vigor lets Nevinyrral's Disk come into play untapped, so you can combo the first turn you get the Disk out.

March 4, 2014 11:06 a.m.

That is true, Vigor would help for that the only problem with the Ammy is that other than for that purpose it's useless, and Voltaic Key /Clock of Omens /Dross Scorpion are all viable ways to untap disk the turn it's played.

"Artifice sundered the world. It shall not again wreak such sorrow." Fetches a Lux Cannon

Or my personal favorite tutors up Mycosynth Lattice, turning everything and everyone into artifacts XD It's especially funny when you consider the fact that Arcum, in lore, was meant to essentially transmute evil, powerful artifact creatures into weaker, less harmful artifacts. In EDH however, we use him for the exact opposite purpose. Not that I wouldn't use his ability on an opponent's Blightsteel Colossus ...

how about Drift of Phantasms . It fetches both your combo pieces in arcum gets Hinder ed.

March 14, 2014 11:19 a.m.

Oooooooohhhh I actually like that a lot. I could transmute it to get thousand year elixir or like you said, any of my combo pieces! I'll try to find that card and a place for it! Thank you!

Great deck. I made one of these and I love it. The Mycosynth Lattice combo got banned, so I tried out Myr Matrix , Myr Turbine and Myr Battlesphere . No infinite shannanigins there, but it's still a good back up win con in they have Return to Dust or Into the Core .

Also, have you ever considered Desertion then maybe sack it if it where an artifact?

I'm sorry, but could you explain how you go infinite with Basalt Monolith and Staff of Dominance? And how you make lots of Myr? It's perplexing me.

March 25, 2014 5:46 p.m.

I'll explain. We tap Basalt Monolith for three colorless, then spend it to untap. Now use 2 mana from an outside source to pay for Rings of Brighthearth to copy Basalt Monolith untap ability. Then at instant speed we tap for 3 again, then it untaps. Tap it again and we have 6 colorless mana, then we spend 3, and another 2 to copy, 1 leftover. We then we tap again, making 4 mana, untap from Rings. Tap again and we are at 7. This combo basically makes Monolith become:

Tap: Add 6 colorless mana to your mana pool.

Pay 5 colorless mana: Untap

Once we do that a ridiculously ludicrous amount of times, we simply use the staff alone to draw, and untap itself. Drawing our whole library, we play a slew of cards (most importantly the ones I mentioned in the description) and force a concede.

If they are stubborn, crack Mindslaver and skip their next turn, at the end of their turn however, making tokens using infinite mana from previous combo, then using Voltaic Key Rings of Brighthearth and Myr Turbine to tap Key, copy it's ability to untap Key, untap Turbine with the Key's other copy of the ability, and do that over and over until desired amount of Myrs are reached.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I saw this while I was at an EDH tourney at the local store and it was too much to say on my phone XP I hope I explained well enough how the combos actually work, if there is still any confusion please allow me another chance to clear it up.

Seems like Illusionist's Bracers is not here as it would help out the General wouldn't it?

April 2, 2014 7:11 a.m.

it would help a lot but the problem is I have 3 combo pieces and Rings of Brighthearth let's me do that same thing. If I only needed two cards to win then Bracers would be an auto-include for me (or if I could equip it to artifacts).

Or, you could just use Myr Matrix without having to use the other two cards.

April 2, 2014 10:35 a.m.

I don't get it, I would still need to have infinite mana to make infinite tokens with Myr Matrix and I would still have to activate Arcum just as many times to pull that off and on top of that I give my opponent an extra turn to possibly win the game or find an answer as opposed to wiping all of his things so that his next turn is guaranteed to be meaningless, and then I just do that same combo with Myr Turbine which gives me Myr tokens for free to sac to Arcum instead of only 1 if I have 5 mana to spare. Myr Matrix is fine, but the combo is simply much more inefficient and slow and Myr Matrix doesn't help me get my combos going like Myr Turbine does.

Love this deck! Having a blast playing the "mirror" vs. my Memnarch deck (Memnarch Now With More Fun (Less Combo)). Your deck is far better heads up because we are both so non-interactive and you are faster. I had to make concessions to my playgroup in order to keep games fun for anyone (myself included.) Though I still have the broken list for special occasions and party tricks.

Myr Turbine is inspired! I'm just loving all the cards you've found work that I haven't thought of. I have to get lucky and run out a Brittle Effigy , Pact of Negation , or Vedalken Shackles to stand a chance, but I can then usually pull it out as you aren't that great at playing from behind (and nor should you be.) I'm also avoiding counterspells as much as I can, though I do like your short list.

The end game for me usually ends up with a copy of your Commander doing work on my side in some fashion, which, once I get out Darksteel Forge is really tough for you to get out from behind. Brittle Effigy would do the trick. Though I see you've cut Trinket Mage recently so it's probably not worth it.

Why no Gilded Lotus ? Just too slow? My deck is far more hungry for coloured mana as it requires it for most of the win-cons (Blue Sun's Zenith or Memnarch himself) so that's just not as big of a deal for you?

What's Torpor Orb there to fight against?

Anyway, from my artifacts to yours, great deck. Keep breaking hearts with Possessed Portal you devil you.

April 26, 2014 7:38 a.m.

Gilded Lotus is in fact, too slow, ideally I am trying to wrap up a game on turn 5 or 6, and I'll almost never tutor for it. I really only need 1 blue mana to get going, colored mana is not-so-important.

Torpor Orb is for hosing my friend's Derevi, Empyrial Tactician and there is another guy who comes to tourneys at my shop who runs Animar, Soul of Elements both of those decks struggle with this, as they are so creature heavy, ETB combos just fizzle! It's hilarious when they can't even kill it with Acidic Slime

I'm glad you like the deck!!! I've worked hard to put together this almost (in my opinion) perfect list for Arcum.

April 26, 2014 11:21 a.m.

its always good to have a couple 0 cost artifacts to use dagsons ability really quick like Ornithopter and such

May 21, 2014 11:21 p.m.

Pretty good deck, but I have a suggestion if you are ever wanting to go for a speed build. Run more 0 drop creatures, paradox engine and citanul flute and you can get to infinite mana and walking ballista in one turn as long as you have arcum with haste and 2 creatures: 1 to search for paradox and one to fuel the engine and start the combo. This setup requires less toolbox, but offers a turn 2-5 win consistency
