Put stuff in the grave. Benefit from having stuff in the grave.
When I first started this game, that's the kind of deck I wanted. At first it didn't work out so well due to my own deckbuilding inexperience, so I moved on to different kinds of decks. I tried ramp for a while, then I tried a rigid, janky insect reanimator deck... and now I've come full circle.
The reveal of Huskburster Swarm got me inspired to attempt my first aspiration for a deck again (and what a lovely card it is, the bugs on it appear to be dobsonfly larvae). I was surprised how well this turned out, there's a lot of cards that essentially suck the life out of your opponent, which is fine by me, who doesn't love making use of some good ol' fashioned parasitism? Sure, this deck isn't all insects, but unlike the ramp deck, I'm quite fond of the non-insects in this one; all manner of wonderful creatures of the night!
Initially, this deck was meant to be mono-black... but once more Grist, the Hunger Tide has snuck into a deck I'm building. What would I ever do without her? Her -5 is pretty potent in this one, considering how much I love filling my 'yard.
This is probably my favorite deck I've built yet. I've probably said this in the past about other decks, but this really is the "me" deck. My very own that I built all by myself, filled with things and themes I love.
