This deck started as simple Air Superiority, a reply to the decks of an FNM. Now is more of a tempo deck.
Splashed black for the awesomeness that is lingering souls. Honestly I have never regretted a Lingering Souls. Its spam blockers, flying and cheap. Taking the chance for a slow land here and there is a acceptable risk for how good this card is. If/Once I buy two Sorin, Lord of Innistrad the splash will be even more valuable.
Slowly this splash brought me to Vault of the Archangel, Blood Artist and Tragic Slip.
It could be made much better with the addition of Sorin, Lord of Innistrad to strike harder. Im considering two Tamiyo, the Moon Sage, but I dont feel that a 5 mana mid/end game control or card advantage is that useful to me.
The Bellow Needs an Update.
Creatures
Doomed Traveler
A great 1 drop, early game agro, replacement has evade and gets buffed, double blocker agaisnt agro.
Cheap 1 drop that makes my opponent hesistent to block in late game for fear of the replacement. Potentially force a drop of a control spell on a 1 drop. Well worth the cost
Drogskol Captain
Buff on a stick, also to protect spirits, or simply my primary attack force
Fog Bank
In a creature heavy format that is todays standard, a wall that forces a control or burn spell out is well worth the slot and two mana.
Geist-Honored Monk
While the only non-flyer on the lineup, the addition of two extra tokens on drop to field makes the monk a good late gamer. Additionally monk works well as both a blocker and an attrition fighter with vigilance.
Judge's Familiar
This is one card I am unsure of. I have yet to hit a situation where I want to pop the familiar. He will occasionally draw a burn spell out on him rather than a Drogskol Captain. His only advantage is that he has a slightly higher turn 1 drop chance and instantly benefits from my flight boost chant, if its out.
I really love it against Farseek
Enchantments
Favorable Winds
Nearly all my creatures fly, this card is a powerhouse.
Intangible Virtue
Buff those spirits, as I have plenty of sources for them. (Lingering Souls, Doomed Traveler, and Geist-Honored Monk)
Oblivion Ring
O Ring, Yes please.
Instant/Sorcery
Azorius Charm
Field/Draw Control, Life Gain or Cycling
Banishing Stroke
Not always a 1 drop, semirisky card with the amount of drawing this deck can do but can do some real work.
Lingering Souls
One of my favorite cards. I love this powerhouse of a 3/5 drop. Even when I've made the mistake of keeping on a one land hand, this card has pulled me out of the gutter. I believe in Lingering Souls.
Cyclonic Rift
Unsummon or Overload to win the game. I like this card just I am not sure I like it more than Fog Bank, Banishing Stroke or Spare from Evil.
Negate
Great counterspell, sadly not the UU magic that once was, alas.
Tragic Slip
Good little kill spell
Supreme Verdict
Best board clear out there.
Land
Vault of the Archangel
Good little utility land.
Land Count : 23 see the land guide
Sideboard
Arrest
Answer to Timmy and his big ol beaters
Banishing Stroke
More creature hate
Blood Artist
Answer to Creature distruction / Golgari / My own boardwipes.
Dissipate
Counterspell, not mainboarded as Cavern of Souls so commonplace.
Downsize
Fog or answer to Wild Beastmaster
Pithing Needle
Answers to planeswalkers
Tormod's Crypt
Graveyard hate.
Problems not answered in sideboard
Reaninmators and other graveyarders beyond counterspelling. Banishing Stroke and Blood Artist should probably be dropped for some form of graveyard control. Probably not Rest in Peace and more like Tormod's Crypt... then again.
Possibly Nevermore against Thag, Resto Angel and Invisible Stalker
Considering
Soul Tithe
I like this card, but its important to know that this card will never save the deck, it is a tempo card. Late game this card is trash. Early game this card is great.
Curiosity
Ive learned that this card is just not good enough through enough playing... Old reason left below for reminder to myself.Even when it only replaces itself I am glad to have it. Card advantage is good.
Cards I think belong but Hate.
