Can you choose to place the general back in the command zone thing if hinder is used?
I like the cold storage idea, might have to think about that.
November 2, 2013 1:07 p.m.
Nope, still goes to the bottom of their library. The general only goes back in the command zone if destroyed or exiled. Spell Crumple has a similar effect.

I will have to replace Portent , and Power Sink with those 2. Now I need to get them.

You cannot run Volcanic Island in this deck.
December 23, 2013 10:40 p.m.
Didgeridooda says... #6
Yes I can, as well as off color fetches. They do not have a mana ability of their own, but are simply just both basic land types.
December 23, 2013 11:44 p.m.
@Didgeridooda: Actually, no, you can't run Volcanic Island if you're following the "official" EDH rules. According to mtgcommander.com: "Lands whose type includes swamp, island, plains, forest and/or mountain (e.g.: basic lands, shocklands, dual lands, Shadowmoor special-basics, etc) DO contain the corresponding mana symbol(s) as per CR 305.6. As such, while they are "colourless" they do have a colour identity and may not appear in a deck unless the Commander is of the appropriate identity. "
Off-color fetches are fine because they don't contain mana symbols (just names), but dual lands need to be within your general's color identity as per the rule above.

Dual lands do not contain mana symbols either. If you are going by the cards erratta. They symbols should would not be on the cards if printed today.
1) Because lands automatically gain the appropriate mana ability for each of their basic land types, the "dual lands" (Badlands, Bayou, Plateau, Savannah, Scrubland, Taiga, Tropical Island, Tundra, Underground Sea, and Volcanic Island) should simply have text that gives them two basic land types. They shouldn't have mana abilities of their own. For example, Badlands should read, "Badlands is a swamp and a mountain in addition to its land type."

That is true, and according to the official EDH rules:
"The Commander's colour identity restricts what cards may appear in the deck. Lands whose type includes swamp, island, plains, forest and/or mountain (e.g.: basic lands, shocklands, dual lands, Shadowmoor special-basics, etc) DO contain the corresponding mana symbol(s) as per CR 305.6. As such, while they are "colourless" they do have a colour identity and may not appear in a deck unless the Commander is of the appropriate identity."

Nice control deck but I can't help but feel your commander is out of place here, there's nothing that really plays off her. I would suggest Oloro, Ageless Ascetic or Sen Triplets since it looks like you're in it for the long haul.

I do like Oloro, Ageless Ascetic , but that is not the case. This general is amazing in control. As long as I can pick the right targets. If I get my untappers then it takes her to an all new level. Venser and the tutors can help with that too.
I normally play one on one, but recently started playing 4-6 player free for all. I have done very well in the big games. I dropped most of my board wipe due to playing mostly one on one.
In the big games I have played, it gets very political. If you have a big time general you get targeted first. Merieke Ri Berit tends to slip through those cracks till it is too late. Which cards, in your opinion, would make her fit in to the deck better?

There are also a few cards I have since taken out. Just saw that, I will have to update the deck.

There were a few changes. Deck is up to date now. I do not think that Time Reversal
is staying in, I am going to put something that gives me more turns in there.
I am still not sure about Transcendent Master or Guul Draz Assassin .
January 13, 2014 5:08 p.m.
Could add larger draw pools like Sphinx's Revelation , Blue Sun's Zenith , Stroke of Genius .
Leyline of Anticipation would probably be nice so you don't waste mana from holding back counter spells.
Overwhelming Forces is a board wipe and a draw for your that doesn't affect your board.

Didgeridooda says... #16
That is one thing I have been looking to add. (Draw) I have a little bit, but could use more.
Overwhelming Forces is very good, but I am not in the market for cards priced like that. I have spent a little on this deck getting the lands together, and a couple of the things from when I had stopped playing. This is mostly made out of the cards that I had though. I got the pricey ones through drafting, and prizes.
I was going to pick up a Sphinx's Revelation but not now. I see them falling to around 5 dollars or so. Much later on, out of rotation price. Just do not want to invest in a card that I think will fall that far. I forgot about Stroke of Genius I will have to put that in.

You could reinforce your commander by giving yourself a sac outlet for stolen creatures. Carnage Altar , while it costs to activate, could get a draw for you. Proteus Staff will tuck the stolen creature and allow you to pull out the next creature in your library and could be set up by Sensei's Divining Top . Conjurer's Closet could either steal the creature for keeps or remove it while untapping your commander.
Expedition Map seems like a sound include to tutor up you Minamo in order to start the untap engine.

Hmm I like the staff idea. The map I have in and out. I am working on getting a couple more mana rocks first, then I think I will work in the staff. Thanks for the suggestion, I think I could really use that staff.

Hmmm I hate assuming, but im guessing this is ment for 1v1? Should add a description. What do you personally want this deck to do?

Yes I mainly play one on one that is what it was built to do. I have started playing multi player, and it still does very well generally.

Aura of Dominion , Crab Umbra , Freed from the Real and Pemmin's Aura would be great ways to set up kills with your commander.

I could see myself possibly using Pemmin's Aura . The others probably not. Thank you for the suggestions. What would you remove for it?

You could drop a basic land for it. I have success running 36 lands in some edh decks.

A few nice cards here I hadn't thought of like Guul Draz Assassin that works perfectly with the untapping. Most people run a Merieke EDH as tapping/untapping, but I got the blink idea from;
This deck: http://sales.starcitygames.com/deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=51849
Explained here: http://www.channelfireball.com/articles/we-play-too-15-reader-mail-and-a-poker-pros-affair-with-merieke/
How about something to tuck away opponents creatures that Merieke steals so they don't get destroyed when she untaps, and you can bring them back under your control? Like Synod Sanctum or Cold Storage ? I'd also highly recommend Puppet Strings , Magewright's Stone or Umbral Mantle to untap her.
Lastly, I'd recommend Hinder , for countering the opponents general and putting it on the bottom of their library!
