Choose Your Commander (CYC)
Before you shuffle up your library, choose which legendary dragon shall be your commander:
- est. power level 6-7: Scion TSP for tutoring for any dragon and reclamation
- est. power level 5-6: Ramos for mana ramp and commander damage
- est. power level 4-5: O-Kagachi for retaliation
- est. power level 4-5: The Ur-Dragon for mana discounts, cheating mana costs and drawing
Note: "CYC" provides highly re-playable decks as each dragon offers a different play style.
Design Choices
For my general deck design choices, see my user page: XiphiasX. For this deck in particular I choose these guidelines:
- Mana costs: multi-color dragon spells (in case of Morophon or Ramos)
- Graveyard: recursion and recasting (in case of Scion or Ramos)
Past ideas I removed for power level and consistency reasons:
- Mana costs: duo-color ramp (whenNiv-Mizzet is commander)
it made the deck feel unique but it didn't fit the flavour - Still a choice to make:
- focusing on tri-color spells and legendary dragons optimizing for Ramos and an additional alternative commander Sisay
- focusing on duo-color spells and any dito dragons for Niv Reborn
- a middle ground?
