I would also thinking about throwing in Geralf's Messenger. My friend has a similar build with those in it and they help out a lot. Also maybe Liliana of the Veil if you feel like spending the money on it. Great utility card.

hmm, i like Geralf's Messenger. what do you think i should take out for it? and id love to have a liliana but theyre hard to come by

One of my favourites for this type of deck is Phyrexian Crusader. I don't know what your meta is like, but we had heaps of white weenie decks and burn decks. Attaching a Lashwrithe to it and attacking was just too much fun.

slashx24 oh man, thats a great idea... with Lashwrithe i could easily be swinging for more than 10 infect, thanks for the input sir!

im thinking about adding Smallpox with Black Cat the combo just seems so good... or maybe Inquisitor's Flail to the obliterator... and what about Altar's Reap??? do i need that? give me advice peeps.
March 15, 2012 8:22 p.m.
I personally think you would only really want Smallpox in a deck which is either really aggro where you can recover faster, or super control with alternative mana sources and limited creatures. It doesn't seem to do much for you here, especially with some of the higher costing creatures in your list. I think Liliana of the Veil does a better job of what you want your Smallpox + Black Cat combo to do, and then some. Inquisitor's Flail would be good, especially if you're going to throw in that Phyrexian Crusader :)

I really really enjoy the idea of Inquisitor's Flail on an Phyrexian Obliterator . It pretty much forces non-damage removal or death. What has been your experience with it? Does it immediately get tazed in your meta?
March 19, 2012 10:31 p.m.
Shavingfoams well it definitely forces removal. oblivion ring seems to be the most popular in my meta. but often i can Distress then Surgical Extraction to get rid of any big threats in their hand. and the Swiftfoot Boots do the opposite, give it haste and hexproof. which is also scary, a obliterator you cant remove.

Fun deck, just pointing out that the Gravecrawler kinda stands out as odd just because he is the zombie in the deck so you won't get to use his effect to much and since he can't block its another downside =/ other wise I like it Smallpox works great in a deck like this just because nothing is is overly expensive so killing your own lads isn't to bad, then you can go the Gravecrawler and Geralf's Messenger that way you can bring back the crawlers after a board wipe and get some more damage in, or you can sac the Geralf's Messenger and basically get to pump your own creature. just some food for thought +1'ed

thanks! im trying to get Geralf's Messenger if i had a few i would put it in for sure...and ur right about gravecrawler i might take him out altogether...what should i put instead?

I think you'll find the Messanger is a little slow. It's cool but my friends mono black Aggro just couldn't make good use of it. Make some proxies and test with it, I think you'll find it is best in a combo type deck. I would make the Crudsader a side board card, mixing infect with regular damage will lose you games. You also really need some life gain for all the Pyrexian mana you have, I know its black suicide style but you'll quickly get down to 14 or 12 life. With Standard being filled with fast decks that might be a deciding factor. You also need to think of how you'll get around Mirran Crudsader, that guy will destroy this deck.
March 20, 2012 11:45 p.m.
well for life gain the only really thing i have is Lashwrithe attached to Vault Skirge Its pretty mean. and my answer for Mirran Crusader is Porcelain Legionnaire

Your right I forgot that the Skirge will be pulling in life for you. Have you considered Wurmcoils for this deck? This deck missing something that would make it super awesome, I just can't put my finger on it right now. Looking closer at the deck list I really can't think of what else I'd add at the moment, that means its +1 time!

haha thanks! maybe Liliana of the Veil? that's all i can think of

If Lashwrithe is an important part of your deck you might want to consider running 4. It's a cheap to believe it or not.
March 21, 2012 1:35 a.m.
yeah. ok i bumped it up to 3x of Lashwrithe GOOD ADVICE ppl, keep it coming if you see anything to improve please comment

Decided to check out this deck since you commented on mine. My roommate played a very similar deck to this which consisted of 4 Phyrexian Obliterator , 4 Vault Skirge, 3 Despise, 3 Distress, 3 Surgical Extraction, 4x Lashwrithe, 2 Inquisitor's Flail, 2 Phyrexian Metamorph, 3 Go for the Throat, 2 Doom Blade, 2 Dismember, 2 Wurmcoil Engine and a Sheoldred, Whispering One, on top of a few more spot-removal spells.
In my opinion, the Sheoldred, Whispering One and Wurmcoil Engine's would help the deck, +1 from me.

thanks! yeah that is a similar deck. I agree Wurmcoil Engine would fit in nicely..i just have to go buy some!!

This is my current standard deck. Please feel free to leave suggestions. To point out some combo's, cards like Distress and Despise are great with Surgical Extraction to get rid of pesky creatures or some Mana Leak. Lashwrithe is this deck's powerhouse, being as it comes in as a creature and it can be equipped to Vault Skirge or the annoying Gravecrawler .The bread and butter of my deck is the Phyrexian Obliterator players really don't want to block him. but when you equip him, they stop having a choice in the matter. The Cemetery Reaper are thrown in the bring back Gravecrawlerand to buff him, so they take most of the early game aggro, and Phyrexian Metamorph is just a great card that's fun to copy Cemetery Reaper, Phyrexian Obliterator , or an opponents creature. the rest of the cards are your basic black control. and that about sums it up!
