  • Quarion65: Thanks for the love dude!
  • BenBass97: Indeed, Glaring Spotlight could be used, or put in the sideboard... in this case, and according to my environment, I don't particularly need to annul the hexproof that could eventually be present. Thanks for the comment though! I think maybe there are other decks that could use the spotlight in a better fashion, like blue decks... or red, to allow direct damage.

Busse, I gotta say this is an awesome list for sure, though I played it on Cockatrice, and altered it up to the 140-170 range, but either way, it's a really brilliant deck, and I rarely found myself wanting card draw. Either way, I approve, but right now I threw in Ranger's Guile for extra protection due to al the kill spells running around.

I also added Kalonian Tusker as an early game beat-stick that fuels our devotion, and I know you don't trust it, but utilizing 2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx sped it up a lot.

Those are the 'more' friendly budget options you might want to consider. Though some card draw is nice, maybe Harmonize as budget friendly draw?

Anyhow, great deck! And I hope you don't mind me playing and building it x.x lol, credit will be given!

Momentous Fall Is quite viable, considering it can gain you a crap ton of life as well. I might replace the Manamorphose I am using now, or at least lower the count to accommodate this. I'd much prefer drawing a bulk of cards and gaining a bulk of life, as opposed to one card, and 2 mana back.

just curious, why no Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx? is it because you need to always have green available and you just lose to not having a 2nd green source?

October 16, 2015 3:43 p.m.

Busse says... #7

Indeed, availability is key. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is good but not in a build that already provides ramping.
This build manages to dish out 38 damage by turn 4 with just 1 Forest and combinations of Arbor Elfs and Utopia Sprawls. But people can switch some Forests for Nykthos, that's up to each player (with it's own risks)

it's like i want to play nykthos, but i dont want to trim a forest, so then i would have to cut a card and the list already good the way it is. if it aint broke dont fix it.

What do you think of Overgrowth if you can play it on t2 with your elf and sprawl, it is just as good as Garruk. also, have you thought of omnath

Asher18 says... #10

omnath is actually really slow and can be a simple waste of mana if killed fast, which in modern, it will be.

so is this whole deck. what if i counter primalcrux what if i use terminate. a turn 1 thoughtsieze. any hand disruption. ensnaring bridge. think about it.

October 25, 2015 11:49 p.m.

Busse says... #12

Add Vines of Vastwood to the mix then. You have to crush your opponent before he can even utter "Countersp..."

Utopia Sprawl is faster than Overgrowth, and you don't need much more mana than that... unless you put some Hydras in here. In that case, I'd even put Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.

P.S.: And that's why you have 4x Primalcrux and 3x Khalni Hydra. More than 10% of the deck are finishers, the rest is just sugar-coating it.

Strangleroot Geist instead of Avatar of the Resolute? Blessings of nature is the only way to pump Avatar, and you only have one of those, So i cant think of a reason for not replacing with the geist! Awesome deck by the way.

Reach. And trample are way over the undying.
Avatar of the Resolute is an obscene card, and even without its second abilty it is still better than most Green 2-drops.
It Also scares the opponents...somehow
Cheers mate!

I just pushed the onion button not knowing what it does...

So, enjoy your upvote haha

By doing that, you ensured that an onion will be sacrificed in YOUR NAME ! :D

Sweet deck. Playtesting it I was able to swing for 37 trample on turn 3. Game went:

T1: Forest, Arbor Elf

T2: Forest, Utopia Sprawl on untapped forest, Garruk Wildspeaker +1, Leatherback Baloth

T3: Garruk +1 for 6 mana, Aspect of Hydra +8 to Baloth, Overwhelming Stampede giving +12 to both baloth and elf. swing with a 24/24 Trampling Leatherback Baloth, and a 13/13 Trampling Arbor Elf on turn 3.

Not half bad.

Hey :) I think your deck is awesome and it has a lot of tempo to it (just tried play testing it) once you get how to ramp properly and get the mechanics of the deck str8. Went with 3 out of 4 matches against a friend who plays control.

Keep up the good work! The only think that would be to consider is that heavy control decks tend to cripple your ramp early on with things like Spell Snare or Spell Pierce, but I guess there is hardly a way to deal with that (at least none that comes to my mind atm, I am a newbie though).

It would be nice, if you could pour some of your experience onto one of my recent decks, because I think I got a lot of tweaking especially in the Sideboard to do.Myojin Might

Sacrifice me that onion :). That made me laugh and the list looks great, well done.

November 16, 2015 2:54 p.m.

Busse says... #21

Killkow: Exactly! And actually, what you found is not even the main win-con hahaha
That's the trick of this deck: anything can escalate rather quickly into a trampling defeat !

DaftVader: Sacrificed!

masterHephner57: I know, but changing the format is not an issue in my meta. I play with this against some pretty hideous Legacy and Vintage decks.

BBWs: Against control, the only way to win is with speed. Some misleading spells and maneuvers, but speed is essential in the end. I'll take a look at your deck and see what I can do. Cheers!

Absolutely love the deck, but would something with deathtouch like Heir of the Wilds be more useful than avatar?

  • grasshopper021: Hey man! Thanks for the love. And to your question: Avatar of the Resolute acts here as a situational defender and ocasional early attacker (having reach AND trample gives him flexibility). The main thing about this guy is that when combined with the other critters (high devotion) and Aspect of Hydra, you can buff him for an easy... dunno... +8/+8 and attack with trample. THe only guy that doesn't focus on that is the Leatherback Baloth, but he's too good not to have in this deck.

  • tacolover25: Yes, an onion holocaust... the onion-alypse.

  • demonicgrizzly: Short message. Short answer. Thanks. I think this brutal too. Enjoy. Let me know results. Cya.
