Chord is awesome, it’s a free tutor for either Purphoros or whirlpool warrior on the field, how can that be bad? To make it an 8 you would have to cut like 6-8 cards and fill that slots with removals for problematic cards or to stop opponents from comboing @RustyMC

Thx ZendikariWol, I hope the deck deserves it too and not only the name

Lol I never even looked at it. But now, taking a peep, it seems pretty awesome, I love the snake lord! Did you ever consider Mind's Eye for this deck? Seems like a solid payoff for doing exactly what this deck wants to so. Heartwood Storyteller may be good as well.

Never thought about minds eye tbh, that’s usually a card I add when is desperately need draw like in mono white. It’s a bit expensive but I could give it a test.
Storyteller won’t work here. The deck started with quite a few hug cards, rhystic study and similar stuff. They all became cutted because they didn’t do much or are too slow like teferis puzzlebox. I totally would add Storyteller if it wouldn’t say „may“ draw a card. But this way I spend 3 mana to cast it, cast my Next spells and my opponents chose to not draw. That’s just wasted mana with no effect and I think nobody is greedy enough for that, especially when the next wheel gets rid of the extra card again

Sry for ruining your day @ZendikariWol. Sometimes 1 little word makes a huge difference

I don't know how relevant these are, but I saw Bident of Thassa and Distant Melody and thought they were pretty cool. Drawing 20+ cards for only a little bit of mana seems pretty powerful to me. Or are they too slow?
Also.... Windfall/Archivist with those would be pretty friggin good. 60 some-odd snakes for 7 mana, yes please.
Thoughts?

Heya TriusMalarky, I have tested effects like bident of thassa before and they didn’t work too well.
Distant Melody however is a card I never thought of. It may be a nice replacement for wheel and deal but I have to test that. It seems really solid in a 1v1 scenario but might kill me in a 4 player game. Having more snakes than cards in my library isn’t uncommon. But I’ll give it a test and see how it performs, looks promising.

Why weren't they good? Hard to connect, too slow to be worthwhile? I'm working on assembling my Xyris at the moment and I'm trying to see what angles I should jump on.
On the same note, is Teferi's Puzzle Box too slow? I see Anvil in your list, but I feel like Box is, although twice as much mana, able to create many more snakes. Is it worth it?
Also, are more budget cards(for now until I can afford the bigger stuff) like Druids' Repository and Song of Freyalise good enough to be functional?

Both bident and puzzlebox can be good in Xyris, but not in my list however. I played both in early lists and cutted them because they don’t do anything for me. My deck aims for the win the turn after Xyris hits the field (and usually does). I storm off by creating tons of tokens and mana and either win before combat or with combat. Atacking for drawing cards with bident prevents me from swinging for lethal dmg with shared animosity or beastmaster ascension. And if I got them already I don’t need to draw any cards because the game is over already. Puzzlebox doesn’t do anything because there won’t be any triggers from my puzzlebox if the game ends and my opponents don’t get a turn anymore. So the only situation where puzzlebox does anything is if you draw and play it before Xyris hits the field. However even if I did draw it before I didn’t play it because I used those turns to tutor combo-pieces and set up for the win the turn after Xyris.
Both cards are undeniably good in slower decks but don’t work for me with this specific playstyle.

Ah, you're going storm-esque. Okay. That makes a lot of sense.
I won't be going that direction because my playgroup is more battlecruiser and I don't have the budget. But I'll keep this in mind once I get to a little faster playgroup or something.

Yeah, it tends to create ridiculous turns @TriusMalarky

Heyhey!@Pikobyte I really love your Muldrotha deck and i seriously excited to try out that one.
Is there a special reason, why you use Talisman of Creativity and Izzet Signet?
Thanks!

Heya Iyon and thx for the kind words. I don’t use izzet signet btw but I would if I would play a signet. Reason is simple: red and blue are the colors I need to play wheels and are most valuable here. I don’t need too much green and got enough of that with cradle and Xenagos already, so having some extra red or blue is preferred here over the other color combinations. Hope this helps

How is it going? How has chord of calling been working out for you? And if you were to make it more of an 8, what would you change?
