With the haste enablers, and even in general, may I ask why no Cryptolith Rite?
October 17, 2020 3:14 p.m.
Heya AGuyNamedDre! Cryptolith rite is not bad in a slower deck but doesn’t work too good here. Since I aim to win before I untap with my tokens it’s only a good card with one of my 2 haste enablers and a dead card without them. Earthcraft and phyrexian altar just work better here and I got enough ways to tutor them up, mainly altar. I would add more ways to tutor for altar before I play cryptolith rite. It’s good in slower builds but doesn’t do much for the storm plan without one of the 2 haste enablers.

Pikobyte thank you for the reply! I think that makes a whole lot of sense since Phyrexian Altar gives you the mana payoff without also needing the haste enabler.

Thats exactly the point AGuyNamedDre. Also artifacts are a lot easier to tutor in temur than enchantments are. Earthcraft is technically the best with some basics but you can’t tutor it except with gamble, so phyrexian altar is your best bet here.

Thoughts on Burning Inquiry, Memory, Diminishing Returns as more budget-friendly wheels?
October 20, 2020 4:23 p.m.
Heya TriusMalarky. Memory looks viable if you discard it with another wheel. Inquiri is risky because of the random discard and might mess up your turn. Diminishing returns could also work in budget decks, but again has a risky downside with the exile part and the draw is a may. So opponents prob wouldn’t draw at all or at least not a full hand if that would win you the game. It leaves you in a good spot but there are still better budget wheels I think.

Oh! I missed the 'up to' clause. Not worth it.
Inquiry was mainly because it was 1 mana, which is pretty cheap.
Those were my thoughts on Memory. I've just been digging a little bit because the next cheapest wheels that I don't have are $3-5+, and I'm not excited about that pricetag.

Thats the problem with wheel decks TriusMalarky, they are usually not budget friendly. I’m not sure how good the deck can be on a budget. You could go the grouphug way, that makes the deck slower but way more budget friendly and way less annoying to opponents. This build is pretty much archenemy from the get go, if you don’t slow it or remove Xyris right away it’s probably game over turn 4. Group hug decks aren’t quite as scary and can produce great value too. But if you go group hug you need to play a lot of protection. Otherwise they just remove Xyris and get the benefit of your grouphug cards but you won’t get any tokens

I’ve listed mana echoes already under notable exclusions @zigkid3

I mean, my Xyris had ~$50 spent on it and it's currently about the scariest deck in my playgroup. However, it is a rather casual playgroup, so that might not be relevant. Best deck I see is half-finished Slivers.

Thats great if it works that good on a budget already @TriusMalarky. Did build mine with cards I had laying around and never tried to build it on budget or had an eye on the budget. But I’m pretty happy with the result

Pikobyte What do you think about the card Druids' Repository; seems like a decent mana backup if you're unable to find the altar...
January 11, 2021 3:31 p.m.
Heya MessiahComplex. It’s a decent card but it has too much downsides. I would need either mass hysteria or crossroads out to get use out of it and even if I do I shut down my ability to win with combat that turn. I think i would run other artifact tutors like Fabricate or even Tezzeret the Seeker before I play this. But so far i think I don’t need that. The deck is pretty consistent and really fast and I prob got a couple hundred games with it already

Pikobyte Yeah, makes sense. I went back and saw that that card was previously suggested a while ago as well and forgot to update my post.
What are your thoughts on Zurzoth, Chaos Rider?
January 12, 2021 11:05 a.m.
Heya again MessiahComplex. I appreciate your suggestion and Druid’s might because good card for Xyris, it just doesn’t fit my deck strategy here.
Had zurzoth in an earlier list but cutted it soon after. In a 4 player game it only creates 3 tokens a turn. That’s not a bad thing but not good enough to earn a spot in the deck and spend 3 mana on him. The list is pretty tight and losing any card would hurt the deck more than zurzoth could make up for

I really like your list man! Do you have any thoughts on Jeska's Will?
January 19, 2021 3:38 p.m.
Thx Toto_1988. Jeskas will looks promising but I’ll have to test it to see if it fits in the list. It’s a good card for sure but i don’t know if it’s good enough to cut another card in this tight list. So far it works great without it but once i got a spare slot it might be worth testing

Thoughts on any new additions since the release of Strixhaven?
A card I was looking into was Surge to Victory ; you'd be able to wheel into it -- in a 4 person game, you'd create something like 21 snakes, use 6 of them to cast it, swing with the remaining 15 snakes... on attack exile that wheel, and copy it for each snake that got through.
With something like Molten Psyche , it could be a game-ender.

Heya MessiahComplex. I don’t think that Card is needed. 6 cmc is a lot and it may be just a dead card. It’s good in that specific situation you described but I doubt it would see much use. A lot of my wheels actually reshuffle my grave into my library and it doesn’t work with them. Also when I could pull that off I would prob be able to win already anyways since the deck doesn’t lack wincons. To me it feels like a situational „win more“ card that takes the Spot of a more needed card

You’re welcome @MessiahComplex.
I already have to find a card to cut for Guardian Augmenter here, that’s already enough of a challenge in a tight list like this :-)

Yeah, that card is pretty nice for protection; how often does Lotus Petal put in work? I don't have one personally, so I run a slightly more "budget" list then you.
I was also looking into Nekusar for another Wheel friendly Commander -- I'm not certain how to get it to how comfortable Xyris feels.

Lol, thx jonno.scott. I hope the deck deserves it
