@killkong1211 Wow! that card is just full of combos. if i have an active ascension im often winning the game already but, having mind crank in hand allows me to shoot all my burn to the face instead of at creatures to get ascension active. this deck also takes a while to kill people and having that combo to get things done is pretty sweet. thanks!

+1, Love it. First deck I made used ascension with mill. Archive Trap is fun in Modern with mill and this thing ready to go.
Browbeat maybe? Might help with the draw.
Anyways, looks good as is!

@emask thanks! browbeat is interesting; however, ill only be getting cards if my opponent is low on life, in which case id rather have burn. basically punisher mechanic makes cards bad :/

No worries. I actually love punisher mechanics--well, highly depends on how you play I think. Vexing Devil
is a good example especially with cards like Immortal Servitude
and Proclamation of Rebirth
. Speaking of which, would you consider Vexing Devil
? Might be a bit more vexing when they see a Bloodchief Ascension
on the field...
I think Browbeat is pretty good in a burn style deck because typically burn does quite well with card draw, the extra fuel it usually needs. True that a player might take the 5--or whatever best suits them--but against burn this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Maybe more burn would make it a more beneficial card here.
But yeah, I agree that it totally can be a pain when it doesn't go your way. I'm just trying to say that sometimes you can tune a deck to make the best of both worlds with punisher cards. Bringing back a one mana 4/4 devil after your opponent takes four is always nice.
Hehe... Dash Hopes is fun too, but a bit tougher to build around perhaps.
Anyways, looks good either way, best of luck!

thanks emask! unlike you im not a fan of the punisher mechanic. i play budget burn in modern and have tested both vexing devil and browbeat and it never seems to work out, however vexing devil could be interesting in this deck as the combo of burn and discard can make it much harder to choose and more reliable. another problem with browbeat is it costs 3 mana which this deck cant have to many of and liliana and blightning are much more powerful in this deck.

No worries, I totally agree. You've got me thinking of an Ascension build again. Still love your list!

I don't think that Raven's Crime is neccesary, since you can discard dead lands to lilliana and dark confidant makes sure you draw gas. I would run some more fetches since they help fuel lavamancer, and you should be the aggro deck pretty much always.

@Edward1999 fair point, however ravens crime +liliana is even better, and confidant also finds lands. I like the current number of fetches, because this deck depending on the draw can be very slow and grindy. Thanks for the suggestion ! And if you like the deck please +1!

Would the proliferate from Volt Charge be more useful than the scry from Magma Jet ?
July 11, 2014 12:28 p.m.
@MindAblaze! on raw power level alone volt charge is probably better especially with Liliana of the Veil , but this deck is very sensitive in terms of its mana curve and cant handle more 3-drops. Thanks for the suggestion and +1!

Any thoughts on Elvish Mystic? Leads to turn two Rabblemaster, Knuckleblade, and face-down Rattleclaw Mystic (which allows you to hit 6 mana on turn three). The big play in the Fires decks was turn one acceleration into Fires on turn two.
September 9, 2014 3:37 p.m.
@Planeswalked currently testing the difference. knuckle blade and ascendancy are really hard to pull off on 2 because you need an untapped green dual land into another untapped dual land. the deck also isnt in need of 6 mana. But faster aceeleration is good.

Mindcrank + Bloodchief Ascension = Infini-mill/Infini-Damges.
Just food for thought.
