Yawgmoth, Thran Physician is every Commander player's dream: card draw, utility, and removal all in one package, making him a very versatile Commander. This deck attempts to kill the table in one turn, whether it be with our aristocrat effects or a big life loss spell such as Exsanguinate or Torment of Hailfire. Below I have listed different card themes and some of the important pieces and how they support the deck!

STAX

I find some stax pieces help a lot in making sure I'm not interrupted while attempting to combo off, since Yawgmoth obviously lacks blue. Yawgmoth relies almost solely on his activated ability, which makes Defense Grid an excellent addition since I can still use his ability at will on other player's turns, or more safely on my own turn. If you cast Contamination and it resolves, there's a very good chance it will stay around for a while; in addition to the fact that black has almost zero enchantment removal, it shuts down BASIC LANDS which is invaluable. Words of Waste is a one-sided discard effect you can activate in response to using Yawgmoth's ability. Awaken the Erstwhile is also a sort of one-sided discard effect since you can redraw your hand by sacrificing the zombies you make to Yawgmoth. Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos are quick board wipes that keep the battlefield clean of creatures.

ARISTOCRATS

Aristocrats is the name of the game with this deck and can allow for quick, clean kills of both individual players and the entire table. Deathgreeter negates the life you lose from using Yawgmoth's ability while Falkenrath Noble, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Blood Artist drain your opponents life while doing the same. Since you draw so many cards with Yawgmoth's ability, Psychosis Crawler is an excellent aristocrat add-in as well. I've found the new additions from Throne of Eldraine have been incredible life draining pieces in the deck: Ayara, First of Locthwain and Syr Konrad, the Grim chip away at life totals whenever a creature enters the battlefield or essentially moves anywhere.

RAMP

Ramp is pretty simple in black: lots of mana rocks and mana doublers, in addition to recycling creatures into mana. Since Yawgmoth draws cards so easily, there included is a TON of ramp in this deck to make sure you cast the cards you draw.

GAME-ENDING COMBOS

Much like I mentioned above, there are plenty of aristocrats in the deck to slowly bleed our opponents until we can ramp up for the final punch. With a couple aristocrat affects on field, Army of the Damned will all but certainly kill the rest of the table as you can sacrifice your new army of zombies to Yawgmoth. If you have the mana for it, casting it for its flashback cost will finish off most players, if not the entire table. If Exsanguinate and Torment of Hailfire don't kill everyone, they will at least get them low enough that you can shoot them with your aristocrat creatures.

This deck is a ton of fun to play and definitely my favorite mono-colored deck! It's gone through a couple revisions, but I'm still looking for new additions so any suggestions would be appreciated!
