Not a terrible idea. I'd swap Distortion Strike for Aqueous Form and try to make room for Mutagenic Growth to make it a wee bit faster. (using life to pay for it)

Thanks a ton for the feedback! :) I will definitely swap out the Distortion Strike for Aqueous Form but, what do you suggest swapping mutagenic growth for?

Drop Sleep for the Mutagenic Growth - Sleep is too slow on a deck trying to win on turn 4.

Hmm. Sleep was in there as a security plan if a situation arises where I CAN'T win in turn 4. Or to stall out in the event that my ensouled creature gets removed. Do you think the +2 +2 is worth it in a deck that already 2 hits anyways?

Why Bladed Pinions? Is it only because of the flying and first strike? I could think of a lot cheaper things to give something flying, like Aboshan's Desire, Launch, or Spectral Flight.

You really shouldn't need a security plan as you will be hitting hard early and often. Also, I would remove Bladed Pinions in favor of Artful Dodge which decreases your CMC and has flashback for multi-use when/if necessary. Muddle the Mixture gives you the control you need to counter their spell that would inhibit the game winning turn.

You guys are absolutely right about the pinions. I put them in sort of out of nostalgia from my first ever deck. I'll switch them out as soon as I get on my pc (on phone ATM) Thanks a ton.

I mean, I guess you could still keep them and Ensoul Artifact them, but then you would use one of those on an artifact that doesn't have Infect... It's up to you, I was just curious is all.

I totally understand, and I put Darksteel Citadel in there for the purpose of JUST INCASE you don't draw any of the artifact infect creatures. It's still a 5/5 that I can make unblockable and give flail to. But I think bladed pinions was too slow.

I always suggest Apostle's Blessing for infect decks; its a great way to sneak in damage for 2 life and 1 colorless. I don't know what to take out though... Anyway, its definitely an interesting twist on the typical infect deck with the Flail and Ensouls.

Hmmm. Yeah I've seen Apostle's Blessing suggested on other infect decks before, I think I definitely want to put it in, however I'm wondering what to take out as well. I might swap out Mutagenic Growth for it because +2 +2 (in all of my play tests) has been redundant seeing as a 5/5 infect creature ends the game in the same number of turns as a 7/7 and normally won't be blocked with all the evasion in this deck. Thanks a ton for the feedback! :D

The only reason I would keep the Growth would be to be able to pump your Agent to 5/5 (with two obviously) so you could finish someone off who already had 5 poison counters, but that's too much of a niche to keep them in anything but your sideboard.

Yeah, I've even considered dumping the Blighted Agent as a whole since getting Ensoul Artifact is so reliable in this deck.

I love the idea here. +1

Quick thought--how often do you have metalcraft met? If you can reliably meet it, then maybe Stoic Rebuttal is the better counterspell for the deck. But, I'm guessing that since you're not popping ornithopters and whatnot, that you probably aren't getting that active much.

Good luck!

Ohana says... #17

I usually don't have it met by the turn 4/5 that the game is usually decided in, There are better counter spells for the deck especially for pre turn 4 but none of them allow me to search for two drops if I can find a certain enchantment that makes my deck viable. Thanks a ton for the thought though. :D

I feel this would benefit from having a few more buff spells, but I like the idea of U/W infect. Mutagenic Growth is the most common buff in infect, I'd recommend it over the Bladed Pinions

I had Mutagenic Growth in there for a while, But after play testing... It was irrelevant unless it was multiples to buff Blighted Agent. It was irrelevant because this deck loses if you don't get ensoul artifact on something by turn 4/5 and making a 5/5 infect creature who is already unblockable doesn't really help because it ends the game in 2 swings either way. And Bladed Pinions has more impact than you would think. The flying is obvious but first strike on an infect creature is ridiculous because it applies -1 -1 before the enemy creatures damage step. It's actually in the deck for defensive purposes it would allow me to deal with big flyers around turn 5 very easily because to kill a 5/5 infect creature with first strike you need at least 9 damage and 5 toughness. I do appreciate the suggestions though! :D

I tested this deck. It's awesome !

Without the Inkmoth Nexus, the deckprice is 28$ on mkm.

Is there a possible budget replacement for Inkmoth Nexus? It makes the deckprice x4 :(

October 15, 2015 8:13 a.m.

Ohana says... #24

Oh, I'm fully aware of the price increase from Inkmoth Nexus and you can replace it with just about any blue land you want, even islands are fine. I only put it in there to display the "maximum potential" of the deck. I don't even intend on buying the nexus's myself honestly.
