I NEED FEEDBACK! Playing this build this weekend and need to know if I need to change anything! Thanks guys!
Creature Choices:
Honored Hierarch- This guy has been quiet in the meta so far, but since I chose to go three-colored, he is there to fix the mana. if you get him renowned (which happens almost every time) he became a large vigilance creature that can tap for mana after he attacks. Great card.
Ainok Guide- I know what you're thinking. You're about to comment telling me that i accidentally made this deck standard instead of draft. Well this guy is very impressive. He insures that you will not be mana screwed or can get a 1/1 counter and go off with the rest of the deck. At worst he is a bolster target that made sure you didn't miss a land drop.
Hangarback Walker- This guy is NUTS. That is all.
Abzan Battle Priest- I put in a one of just because he is not majorly important, but its nice to have one in the main to close out games and as agree mb hate.
Abzan Falconer- This guy is a stud. he basically gives your whole field flying. This turns the tide against thopter decks, and creates an alpha strike against fatty decks.
Anafenza, the Foremost- Like Abzan Battle Priest, this card is in the deck as an on theme main deck hate. it distributes counters and hates graveyards which is big right now with death mist, rally, and jace.
Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit- If Anafenza sticks, she throws counters everywhere. She is crazy and worth the awkward mana cost.
Avatar of the Resolute- for two mana, this guy can possibly be a 10/11 reach trampler that just demands an answer.
Enchantment Choices-
Abzan Ascendancy- When it enters, it throws a 1/1 counter on every single creature you control. If you have a falconer on the field, everything gets flying. If you play an Avatar of the resolute after this guy he's huge. This card also gives you very important oil spell/board while protection.
Hardened Scales- This is the main engine of the deck. This card allows every card to go off. It makes people not want to kill your Hangarback Walkers. It makes the Anafenza's distribute two counters, it does everything you want it to.
Instant/Sorcery Choices-
Abzan Charm- We all know this card is powerful. It can be a nasty combat trick throwing 2-4 counters on creatures, it can be great card advantage against a control deck, or it can EXILE a creature! This card handles almost every situation. Despite all of this, i'm only running one in the main board because the versatility covers certain decks, whereas Abzan Ascendancy covers this deck weaknesses. Also the Ascendancy throws a counter on EVERYTHING, so I split it 1-2 in the favor of ascendancy and can replace it when the charm is better with the two in the sideboard.
Dromoka's Command- This card is also powerful. Although it lacks the power that Abzan Charm has, it fits the deck and covers two archetypes, and is a great removal spell. Also this card is easier to cast than abzan charm.
Now on to the sideboard!:
Valorous stance and Feet of resistance are unique spells that can protect our guys from spot removal, all while helping combat by protection or taking out a hefty blocker.
Abzan Battle Priest is in the sideboard for Burn or aggro decks.
The Abzan Charms are great against control and hangar back decks.
Anafenza the foremost is there to hate graveyard style decks such as deathmist raptor.
Den Protector is good to bring in against decks where certain cards in your deck are extra powerful. I usually bring them in against control decks to get back an Abzan Ascendancy or Hangarback Walker or an Abzan Charm. But of course there are many other examples. Also he is on theme.
Thoughtseize in in the deck for control and combo. Control because you can take the two life to protect a bomb and control its obvious.
Utter End is just amazing at taking out planes walkers or Hangarbacks. Usually brought in against control as well.
