Yet another Grixis cycling

Sideboard

Stuff that hasn't worked out so far:

  • Ramunap Ruins - no point; a Cut / Ribbons is available often enough and is more efficient, and sometimes the 1 life just isn't available to pay.

  • Faith of the Devoted was originally a 4-of, but I had to see for myself that Drake Haven really does just work better in practice. Maybe if I had more sideboard slots I would side extra copies against control, idk. Still 1 in the main because it might help stabilize, idk.

  • Midnight Oil - too slow for what it gets, and actively harmful unless the value engine is already up.

Updates Add

Experimenting with:

-1 Drake Haven

-1 Faith of the Devoted

-2 Fateful Showdown

-1 Desert of the Fervent

-1 Island

+2 Ruthless Sniper

+1 Glimmer of Genius

+1 Hieroglyphic Illumination

+1 Desert of the Mindful

+1 Swamp

The enchantments weren't doing that great in playtesting; you need to use Drake Haven twice before it's actually paid off and that sometimes just doesn't happen. Sniper is less of a payoff, but it's an immediate creature on turn 1. Fateful Showdown is just getting replaced with some card draw that I had lying around.

On the sideboard, I'd like to include 2x Scarab Feast, unsure what to take out for them.

Edit: also replacing Commit / Memory with the fourth Supreme Will for now. It's a fun card, but Memory is only especially good with The Locust God already out, and it also messes with the Ribbons plan. I think I really want Pull from Tomorrow instead.
