I get that SynergyBuild. I am just not sure that exchanging a 2 card combo in the form of Staff/Mantle + Big Mana Dork for what would be a 3 card combo in the form of Ashaya + Ranger + Big Mana Dork is truly an upgrade. I think going Ashaya + Ranger is great, but I am not sure adding marginal/less consistent Big Mana Dorks because they work slightly better with a Ranger makes sense. Adding more Big Mana Dorks is a great plan, even ones that are marginal unless you have a Ranger, but possibly not at the expense of other combos, and especially if there is a consideration for removing probably our most consistent Big Mana Dork (Karametra's Acolyte). We basically trade a 2 card artifact combo for a 3 card creature combo. That could make it equal/better, but the additional card should not be overlooked as a downside. At the same time, if you switched out Yeva for Ashaya, this discussion completely changes, it is again a 2 card combo but with creatures instead of artifacts. Only we aren't going to switch to Ashaya from Yeva. So it is a 3 card combo. If it easily fits, great. I just need to see and play a list to get an idea if the additional Big Mana Dorks are really worth it.

precociousapprentice personally, my list ran Joraga Treespeaker over Acolyte for a while, but that list was tuned to be much different in gameplan.

I think that Llanowar Tribe, Marwyn, the Nurturer, and even Elvish Archdruid are plausible options for the deck, Acolyte is just another option in the slew of powerful choices we have access to nowadays.

Agreed. I have a very nice Art Nouveau alter of Elvish Archdruid that would be cool to run, I have happily run Marwyn in the past, and I have been really trying to find a decent way to run Tribe, so I am excited. I am mostly just mentally churning through things. I should probably just try out Joraga. I honestly haven't run it in any deck since I started brewing truly competitive lists. It may be better than I think.

SynergyBuild Crashing Drawbridge is not great but it does that lol

Monomanamaniac Sadly it doesn't have haste itself, nor does it have flash with Yeva ;-;

Monomanamaniac says... #8

SynergyBuild I didn't say it was good at it lol. It's far from budget but Concordant Crossroads would accomplish that. It's not a creature that can be flashed in with yeva, but it is a low costed enchantment that can go in early to speed up your creatures

Monomanamaniac: We REALLY don't like giving our opponents haste tbh

September 13, 2020 7:08 p.m.

SynergyBuild says... #10

Monomanamaniac No problem! Just want a haste enabler that is less dependant on either Genesis Hydra or Ashaya, Soul of the Wild/Destiny Spinner to make instant speed xD

September 13, 2020 7:31 p.m.

Inkmoth duly noted lol, I didn't even notice that it gave your opponent's creatures haste lol SynergyBuild yeah, it sucks that haste is such an inherently red ability that green only gets it if you add red.

Full and extensive write-up for the last update is coming before the end of the week, but the changes that are for sure coming and already in the list are:

As of now, our girl has a 35% winrate on a sample size of 17 games that are being recorded thanks our wonderful discord community and of course, many, MANY thanks to SynergyBuild.

Inkmoth Love the changes, Kogla is an absolute powerhouse in the list, and getting rid of some of those sorcery speed elements for Ashaya and Kogla at instant speed feels really clean, especially since we can tutor up creatures with a ton of options!

Also, while it feels bad that Genesis Hydra had to go, I do feel like that card will always win the hail mary's of our hearts!

Congrats on the update, I know you spent a ton of time on this list, and it plays spectacularly for me in testing. I am consistently winning over half my games and with a starting winrate of around 31% for the deck against a non-farm field, it ends up adding a roughly 18% winrate average per farm deck I face with a 58% winrate on Untap.in and Cockatrice combined.

These are good changes. Some of your removed cards were one's I never put in, so that is convenient for me. Some of the additions are interesting, and I am curious how they will go. I already had been playing Mikokoro, Scryb Ranger has been in and out of my list since it was a Yisan deck, and the Kogla/Hyrax Tower Scout were all in my list to great effect. It will be interesting to see how Ashaya will enable removal of the untap/hast artifacts. I have not yet gotten my Ashaya yet, but these are all changes I plan to make. I am also very excited to try out Skullwinder. I play Queen Marchesa Aikido, so I am not as scared to give my opponents advantage, as long as it disadvantages our common enemy. Any non-Blue list could be helped at times by supporting the countering power of a blue ally. The changes all look great, and I think that this may be what may eliminate the limitations the deck has that has kept it out of the top tier. Nice work.

precociousapprentice: I wholeheartedly agree, but I have to give credit where credit is due. SynergyBuild sold me on Skullwinder and with Ashaya bolstering his advice it sort of all fell into place. The deck has been outperforming itself as of late and I highly attribute it to my newfound independence of the combo artifacts. They never felt great during my storm turns and never did anything aside from sandbagging a counter for us when we needed it to win.

I mean, just wait a few sets when we starting running howling mine on a creature ;)

precociousapprentice I'm glad you like this variation on the list! I've found mild success with a few others, but I think this allows for the most abuse of Yeva, Nature's Herald, even if there is a small chance another version is more competitively viable, this let's us abuse instant speed the most.

Between our massive creature layout letting us toolbox hard at instant speed, break our muses in Glademuse and Seedborn Muse, we find this version let's us cast a timely Skullwinder when everyone is out of interaction for a win, or to go off in response to a storm deck like farm/turbo naus lists with a Heartwood Storyteller.

With these functions, and the results of the list, we have many ways of proving this deck is one of, if not being the most powerful deck in the format at controlling large stacks. In doing so it's both been a very unique experience, a hugely performing deck, and one of the most fun decks I've played or played against, the deck makes sure to keep opponents in the game, rarely locking people out just to win on top of them all.

I'll continue testing the deck, but I think this version is at or nearing the peak performance this list should expect, sitting around tier 2, leading to a meta-killer against farm lists, however a subpar choice for metas involving the Yurikos, T&Ts, Kess's, and Snoop Piles, which I want to look towards to fight in the future.

So how exactly are you going infinite with the scryb ranger and ashaya? Without haste you can’t tap the ranger for the mana to recast itself.
