Looking good! I'll give you your first upvote!

I thought I didn't really have any card suggestions for you, but then I noticed that you only have one of the cards which naturally has cascade. Maybe you have good reasons, but getting extra cascades is worth suggesting them: Bloodbraid Elf, Etherium-Horn Sorcerer, Bituminous Blast, and the mighty Maelstrom Wanderer.

I am curious about your thoughts on something. I also have a Yidris deck and I find that casting the lower cost cards first and gradually working my way up the curve works well toward getting the most out of cascade. I'm sure you've experienced how casting a large spell and cascading into something tiny can feel almost like a whiff sometimes. It makes sense that if you've already cast all the tiny spells then only spells closer to the cmc you're casting remain. Perhaps some discussion on these sorts more subtle strategies (if you use any) would be good to include in the primer description.

@RicketyEng

Thanks for the feedback! I've been back and forth with the cascade cards. I had all of them in at one point, but slowly cut them in favor of a lower curve. BBE may go back in, but the others have too high of cmc for what I want to do.

Yours is sweet too! I like the more chaotic, value oriented approach, Yidris is very openended and it's cool to see the different interpretation.

This is my first primer so all the feedback is very appreciated, I'll keep that in mind when I edit it again.

@n0bunga

Thanks for the suggestions! I don't know how helpful they'd be for me honestly, cascading into one of them wouldn't be too good. But I may test if I need more evasion. :)

Commenting here because I messed up the forum, This deck is amazing.+1 such an awesome combo, Id defiantly throw a simple Counterspell in there.

Whispersilk Cloak and Fireshrieker do more harm to storm than help it. If you ever need to make the list more competitive, I'd get rid of the equipment and higher CMC cards for Ad Nauseam.

@Masterful

Honestly you're probably right about Ad Nauseam. I use it in another deck, so I was hesitant about running it in here, but I think it's just better with Yidris.

The equipment and the high cmc cards that come down cheap are what was leftover from the original list I had that was not storm, and they've proven useful in my meta. But I may put them on the chopping block in favor of more consistency. Thanks for the input!

oooh.... Yidris, One of the things it could use, Oracle's Vault.

Looks good, but I'm not the kind of person to critique combo decks much...

Hey, kayakenobi, thanks for the comment!

I'm not too sure if the vault would be all that helpful in this particular build of Yidris, but perhaps in a more value oriented build it could be an all-star.

Aye, but even as pure value, when you can cascade wouldn't you like to start cascading for free? ;)

Vault doesn't count it from hand, so it doesn't actually work out with yidris

April 27, 2017 9:48 a.m.

Yeah, for Cascading it doesn't help, but getting stuff for free is nice.

oh... dur.. you're right. Wow, aren't I smart? I was thinking of Maelstrom Wanderer and forgot the hand clause.

@TheWallinator74

Hey, thanks for the comment!

Taiga was actually left off intentionally. I felt that it and Stomping Ground aren't as imporant because they don't produce blue or black. In my personal expeirence it hasn't been an issue.

Why Jace over Snapcaster Mage?

@Forceofnature1

It's more of a prefrence thing mainly. I like the filtering and the fact that I get to choose when to "flashback" a card.

August 30, 2017 12:58 a.m.

Okay yeah I read that in the description after posting. It's nice to "flashback" stuff on your turn at sorcery speed with the walker, but flashier with the Mage. You're right though, the added filtering is good if you need it.

I can see the argument for Snappy over JVP, I've just cascaded into Snap enough times when I didn't want to that I perfer JVP.

I really like the way you described how the deck functions in great detail. I myself am trying to make a "competitive"-ish Yidris deck with medium low funds (I try to avoid singles over $40), and I was wondering what modifications you would make to your deck if your playgroup had more removal and less counterspells. You have built your deck to nip counters in the bud with cards like thoughtseize, but my playgroup usually has a removal spell on the go for when Yidris hits the field and is less focused on counterspells. Do you have any advice?

@PresidingDent

Sorry about not getting back to you untill now. I took a break from Magic for a while. Unfortunately the list I have now on Yidris is more updated probably at 100% now.

As for advice, you could probably get away with running Three Visits, or Farseek type effects and more creature based ramp to remove some of the pricer mana rocks. Cheap extra land drop effects could help too. As for against removal, Lightning Greaves was something I played with for a long time. You'd be a turn or two slower, but still could have crazy early wins. I hope some of that was helpful. .
