I happen to have a deck just like this! It's a lot of fun. It's called Chaos and Card Draw in case you wanna check it out. Might have something helpful.

I am working on a Yidris deck. I am having trouble finding a good foundation. What cards have worked well for you? What are your wincons?

TheNocholas Anything that damages when people discard or I draw. Getting Yidris out on turn 2 or 3, cascading out Wheel of Fate by casting a 1 cost spell then casting 2-3 cost spells to thin out my smaller cmc cards while looking for a wheel and a damage dealer. By turn 6-7, double wheeling with Wheel of Fate and Windfall/Whispering Madness/Reforge the soul with say Megrim out usually wipes the board for me. Its a little unpredictable though, I feel like I need more lower cost drops. Regarding the Cascade from Yidris, its imperative to never run spells that don't give you some sort of advantage as soon as they hit, like counterspells for example. Its a waste of tempo. Cascading is great for tutoring all your mana rocks, various 1 drops (like Aqueous form and Deathrite Shaman) and Waste Not. Waste Not sets up nearly any wincon in the deck if you play with 2 or more opponents.

It is a good take on the commander. Unfortunately it runs a lot like my The Old Grixis Mill I will find something thanks for your breakdown.

TheNocholas If I may chime in on this, Yidris is a weird guy to build around because of his chaotic/unpredictable nature. The only tips I can really offer are to make sure that Yidris can get his damage in,(giving him flying/haste/unblockable/etc.) and to ensure that you can make the most of your Cascade triggers to out value opponents. Either by filling the board with many smaller-mid sized creatures or value engines. Running other spells that already have Cascade helps too so you can occasionally double cascade.

I also have a Yidris deck with a wheel subtheme, although it's mostly built around storm. My wheel wincon is looping Wheel of Fate and Elixir of Immortality with Megrim in play, since Wheel is my only non-permanent with CMC<3. That is a problem with running a bunch of super cheap spells, that you'll essentially whiff on good cascade hits to just cantrip when you could be doing something better. A very powerful move I like is giving Yidris double strike, to get double cascade triggers.

dude1818 The more I play and upgrade this deck, the less its about cascade. Wheel works really well without cascade, and while trying to cascade out a wheel, it can be far harder to predict. As it is, Yidris is usually just my opener, cascading out for value early on. My playgroup has wised up to the threat of cascade from Yidris, so lower cmc spells also help to stabilise a board after hes hit with heavy CC. My plan is to add in a Doomsday combo soon, my pile being Gitaxian Probe , Gush , Pact of Negation , Street Wraith and Laboratory Maniac . Or, for a less mana intensive, cascade friendly version, Ancestral Vision , Pact of Negation , anything (maybe more protection), Gush and then labman, with the initial cascade trigger being anything else in the deck. After this I want to add ad nauseum then lowering the average CMC to be 3 or less except for Whispering Madness and a few other things. This is why my average CMC is getting lower and lower.

why have Narset, Parter of Veils seems kind of anti wheel?

golgariizzet For much the same as Notion Thief, adds a secondary objective if wheeling ends up helping too much. Knock people down to one card a turn and the advantage is huge, regardless of having wheels or not.
