I think the player would have to choose the champion there Scytec. Make it so that it's Power is only 1 (could be 2 or 3 though, depending on what doinitwrong likes) with no other abilities. A completely vanilla creature. And instead of allowing 10 of the champion, make it like the commander in EDH. Exact same rules apply with how the commander is dealt with, just that there are no limitations regarding the deck besides the other 59 cards can't be the champion.
