Gatekeeper of Malakir and Vampire Hexmage are both solid vampire removal as is Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet

while Asylum Visitor and Blood Seeker provide advantage engines, especially in a deck as low to the ground as this.

you probably drop a rock or two with a Stromkirk Condemned to make room for a few picks.

also effects like Erebos, God of the Dead/Tainted Remedy might be worth a look

Izu_Korasu I know I have a Gatekeeper of Malakir to replace the Stromkirk Condemned with. I had originally chose not to run it since it only affected a single player, but removal on a stick is always nice. I'll cut a mana rock for Asylum Visitor, as I noticed this deck struggles with draw power but has relatively solid ramp.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm glad Reconnaissance has made it to your maybeboard lol. Please try the card til you see it in one game, I promise you won't look back.

I hope you've looked at the rulings for the card... it's really hard to evaluate the card at face value. Essentially (and sorry if you did your research) it allows you to attack with EVERY creature you have, deal combat damage (in most instances), and have EVERY creature untapped and ready to block. Also has great interactions with Captivating Vampire and his thievery.

It untaps to avoid bad blocks, and this is the face value fair use and the only instance you don't deal damage... but your dude lives.

It untaps after first strike damage but before normal combat damage. Busted with Stromkrk Captain and a good way to get counters from Drana to your whole team.

It even untaps after normal combat damage has been dealt due to the creature still being counted as an attacking creature until the end of the end of combat stage (You untap in the middle of the end of combat stage).

Last_Laugh worry not! I have only been busy with life outside of Magic, and haven't had time to reevaluate my card choices. Are there any specific cards in my list you think should be cut? I was thinking a land perhaps because I've often found myself mana-flooded.

I also run 36 lands but with all 3 signets, sol ring, talisman of indulgence, and mana crypt and our avg cmc is very similar... 3.00 for you and 3.06 for me.

I'd personally drop Kalastria Highborn, her ability doesn't do much and I rarely had the mana open to use her. However you're only at 29 creatures so if you drop her I'd replace her with Yahenni.

I'd try Reconnaissance in Door of Destinies slot. I'm not a huge fan of Door or Cathar's Crusade here because of a huge mana investment for something that typically does nothing the turn it comes into play and then requires you to have cards to essentially feed it to get them to do anything.

bontu's monument could be replaced with a 2 mana rock imo

Painful Truths has been exellcent for me, Read the Bones is strong as well

Fellwar Stone Mind Stone and Everflowing Chalice are good

Orim's Thunder is flexible as well

I think i agree with the person above about taking out door of destinies

Hey, what about Carnival of Souls and Urza's Incubator?

Also, creatures like Blood Bairn, Vampire Aristocrat, Bloodflow Connoisseur and Bloodthrone Vampire could be useful in combat considering that you'll always have some sac fodder for them.

hoardofnotions I could cut the Monument pretty easy, my thoughts were since a majority of my creatures are black, most of their mana costs are lowered. It's nice for an aggro deck, but I may cut it.

After thinking about it, Door of Destinies is pretty slow for what it does and has no immediate impact, so I'll cut it for Reconnaissance. Same goes for Well of Lost Dreams, as I'm slowly going away from the life drain part of the deck. I'll cut the latter for Read the Bones.

Bxbx Carnival of Souls looks interesting, and sadly I don't have the money for Urza's Incubator. I may consider Bloodflow Connoisseur from the vampires you've mentioned, I don't really care for those effects too much in EDH but I may change my mind if they prove effective.

The deck looks good! When you have a chance to up the budget, I'd highly suggest Ancient Tomb over Temple of the False God: I really, really hate TotFG, because it's dead in the vast majority of opening hands.

The other potential issue I see here is a lack of draw effects. What options do you have to upgrade the draw power in this deck? There's always cards like Phyrexian Arena etc if you want to go with the classics ;)

Daedalus19876 I can potentially add in a Necropotence, maybe other one-shot draw effects like Night's Whisper. Any other potentially good cards I might've missed?

Will keep Ancient Tomb in mind. ;)

How often you using mirror entitie ability? Does it help you much, or you found that you dont want waste mana for its ability?

Triton says... #12

Filipp_bor I haven't drawn into it yet the few times I've played the deck, if it comes up in a game then I'll be able to make an educated decision on whether to drop it or not. :)

I found that this creature works bad if you dont have 10+ mana (what we have very rarely)

Alright, that's a good point. I'll cut it for Olivia's Bloodsworn or another cheap, but effective vampire.

What do you think about running Kalitas,Traitor of Ghet and Legion's Landing?

Is legion's Landing to slow to run or not necessary because the commander makes enough tokens already.

Also a friend recommend Dusk / Dawn for the deck.

van_963 I want to get a Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet soon for this deck, since he's one of the really good, cheap vampires. Legion's Landing  Flip is pretty good imo, would have to test it myself. More tokens is always welcome.

I would use Dusk / Dawn, but I tend to buff my vampires. It seems pretty good, however! I may consider it, let me know how it goes for you in testing! :)

Thanks for your advice and deck tech.

I understand your concerns of dusk/dawn but you can cast the dawn part from the graveyard to recur some low casting vampires from the graveyard to the battlefield. Kindred Dominance Is another card that I consider but 7 mana kinda costly for aggressive agrro deck.

I would also consider running Iroas, God of Victory in the deck. iroas is not a vampire but he dose give your creatures a great abilities such as menace and Prevent all damage that would be dealt to attacking creatures you control.

This looks like a really solid deck. Have you considered Sorin, Grim Nemesis ? It's last ability is a win condition with Impact Tremors and the card draw + life drain is pretty good too. Also, what about the other two W/B Sorin planeswalkers?

Looks pretty sweet. A lot like Hyper Markov!

Since the majority of cards in your deck are black, I suggest Vampire Nocturnus, while the buff is conditional it's very strong and fairly consistent, especially with any draw/scry effects.

Tithe Drinker and Olivia's Bloodsworn can be surprisingly effective, especially if you get them out early.

Blasphemous Act and Vandalblast can be effectively combined into Merciless Eviction.

Crackling Doom is really strong. Also, Blood Tribute. Blast 'em.

Legion's Landing could be put in maybe in place of a plains or something, since it flips into a land so easily? Also Radiant Destiny is good, especially once you get the vigilance, which isn't hard to do with the tokens.

Sorin Markov, Sorin, Grim Nemesis, Sorin, Solemn Visitor, and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad are all strong additions, and cool flavor because your commander is already his granddad :P

Really cool deck, check out mine! ==> Russian Vampire Mafia

I cannot recommend Shared Animosity enough, the card is RIDICULOUS. Turns 10 vampires into 100+ damage :)

Lightning Greaves is usually strictly better than Swiftfoot Boots in most cases.

I know what you'll say, but have you considered Purphoros, God of the Forge? He's basically never a creature on the battlefield (so he doesn't violate your "all vamps" rule), and he's AMAZING with this kind of playstyle. I'd personally run him over Goblin Bombardment ;)

Daedalus19876 I totally forgot to add Shared Animosity, I’m gonna throw it in when I get the chance. (Just dusted off this deck oops)

...aaaaaaaand I’ll pick up Purphoros I guess lmao, I make enough money to afford cards nowadays!

Appreciate the advice, as always. :)
