Ezrius- Actually, deathtouch works with any kind of damage, not just combat damage.

I've apparently been ignoring an entire form of removal. Good to know.

CardsAndStuff - finding that ruling was the whole reason for adding Gorgon's Head with all the untap triggers and effects in this deck a single Izzet Staticaster can effectively clear an opponents creatures from battlefield.

This deck is however extremely difficult to play and each turn requires a lot of thought but it has been very effective in quite a few testing games.

issues I see, 1: 29 lands, 2: hammer of porphuros? 3: lay of the land? 4: enough one of's to be called an edh deck except only one signal the clans really for search, garruk finds creatures but there arent any combos that require nothing but creatures

2Jazzhands I was trying something out there that I decided to scrap and go back to more of a simic deck with red splash to make it a little more consistent and get the infinite off regularly.

After playing with it a bit today I have tweaked er up and I really like where it sits right now.

Kiora's Follower + Illusionist's Bracers only works if you have a second copy of Kiora's Follower , since it can't untap itself.

No way to get infinite draw? Darn. Standard is lame. haha.

April 10, 2014 2:40 p.m.

MadScientist says... #12

@Boomwizard That is why the description shows 2x kiora :)

@Dreno33 Still working on the infinite draw possibility or at least a killer combo for it

i like the changes a sweet name i LOVE Unexpected Results but what does it do here?

April 10, 2014 5:40 p.m.

OrzhovExtort says... #14

and take the Voyaging Satyr out unless you are running Verdant Haven

April 10, 2014 5:42 p.m.

MadScientist says... #15

OrzhovExtort The unexpected results is just for some unexpected fun at some point during the game hence only 2 of.

This deck is meant to be a lot of fun so Unexpected Results is like a free spell/creature or free land seeing as I really don't have to worry about mana with all the un-tap in the deck.

I am still working out the sideboard for the true pandora's box experience but the deck is so much fun to play especially when you sideboard in a bunch of singletons so you have no idea how the game will playout.

Sage of hours + Elite Arcanist + Triton Tactics for infinite turns provided you have the mana open.

April 10, 2014 7:27 p.m.

MadScientist says... #17

Ohthenoises that will be a fun mechanic when its out ill try it out at! Elite Arcanist with Burst of Strength will help drive up the counters.

April 10, 2014 7:29 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #18

Well, all you need is the sage, the elite tactics combo and 5 mana open. Burst of Strength is great but unless you are doing this Turn 3-4 Tactics works just fine. (Unless of course you want an X/X creature from the counters, that could be arranged. LOL.)

April 10, 2014 7:32 p.m.

Yeah, Sage of Hours will be nuts here. this deck is so hilarious. +1.

April 10, 2014 8:05 p.m.

Though there is a lack of Pandora's Box: Pyxis of Pandemonium .

April 10, 2014 8:06 p.m.

MadScientist says... #21

InconspicuousPotato That is the whole reason I use this site to help with deck building I had no idea about Pyxis I am going to try and get my hands on a couple of those for the sideboard so I can through them in for some serious "Pandemonium"

April 10, 2014 8:10 p.m.

Lol you haven't been to enough drafts if you don't have any. I legitimately have first picked Pyxis in 4 drafts. And I've only been to 4 theros drafts.

April 10, 2014 10:28 p.m.

+1 for Forest Gump reference. Well, that and the sheer number of infinite combos. But mainly the reference.

April 13, 2014 2:09 p.m.

Thanks for the votes, I did some playtesting today mostly against some narly modern decks and was able to pull of the win con %50 of the time. That is all I can ask for with such a strange brew.

Still having fun playing the deck.

The main strategy I have found that works in to keep the combo in your hand until you have the mana to cast it complete. Then just drop it out in one turn for a shocker.

I snuck it out a couple times but the big drop is more fun.

Still not an FNM contender but for casual play its a blast.

Archangel of Thune + Fathom Mage + Horizon Chimera is currently the only infinite draw mechanic in standard, I believe. Probably worth throwing a Strionic Resonator in here so you can copy the imprint trigger on Elite Arcanist and cast two spells with every activation. This opens up the possibility of a pseudo-prison type effect with the addition of Fog and Silence to prevent your opponent from casting spells and dealing damage with creatures on their upkeep.
