Love the build of this deck, gonna try putting it together and doing some testing with it, only thought on it is maybe rather than using Gideon, it would be cheaper and just as beneficial to the deck build to use Sorin, Solemn Visitor

Night117hawk thankyou for the feedback. I have been considering Sorin, Solemn Visitor for this deck.

This deck is really great. I tested it against my decks to see how good they are. But I lost on playtest. What the hell could I do against 3 Zulaport Cutthroat on board and 8-12 life points ?! Kill one and loose 3 ? Can't block them, they would die and I will lose 9... So I take 3 combat damage but I'm dead in 3 turns. There is too much drain everywhere that you lose life for any possible reason. All creatures do the same kind of effects or hit you by flying. Even with board wipe it's still really dangerous. I like it. +1 :)

Not Sure if I could build this deck soon, but I'm interested.

Maybe 1-2 Ally Encampment could be worth it ? I don't have all the cards,
what do you think of Foul-Tongue Shriek - Qarsi Sadist - Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip maybe even Wingmate Roc ...?

Iron_Cube thankyou for this great feedback, some of these suggested cards I have considered but my problem with most of them is that there is nothing I can really remove, Foul-Tongue Shriek is similar to Brutal Hordechief except Hordechief is better in pretty much every way. Ally Encampment I think I will add 2 of and playtest it a few times. But thankyou again its good to see that it is working for others just as well that it works for me :).

Why don't you use Sandsteppe Citadel and Canopy Vista ? The citadel enter tapped of course, but give all your colors. But because your deck is mostly made of allies, I think the Encampment will be good enough. And Canopy Vista is a good turn 1 play, or get it with Windswept Heath. Having 2 basic lands is not that hard.

I was playtesting again, but suddenly had problems with the lands. What have you done ? Lol.
Removed Windswept Heath ? You had 22 lands before ?

I'm playing around with the land at the moment, it should be good soon...

"... many cards that would make my deck better are really expensive."
What kind of cards are you thinking about ? Maybe you can't buy them now, but maybe other people (including me) already own the cards.

In fact, I will go to a big event soon but my prototype decks didn't convince me they were strong enough. I like your deck and I would probably try it. My budget is not big but I'll do what I can. Maybe trade cards for Drana. I will use what I own, like Caves of Koilos or Sandsteppe Citadel instead of Shambling Vent. Things like that...
By the way I think you have too much green mana, maybe. You probably shouldn't play 4 Canopy.

This was before I added the fetches and tangos. I like the deck how it is now. I have changed my description now.

How do you feel about Utter End?

I also want to point out as delicately as possible that doctors have patients, your opponents have patience. Lol

Are some of the "special" land cards necessary? I love the look of this deck, and I love how it works, and I want it, but an extra $50 just for Windswept Heath?!? That's crazy. I understand the need for costly but good cards, but I'm not paying that much just for land. Could it be replaced for just some regular lands, or a less costly version. I'm not telling you to change this deck here, but maybe for me or those people who arn't rich.

Sorry, worded that last bit awkwardly. Maybe people like me, can replace this card, but you don't need to change it here.

Same thing for me, I have the 4 fetchlands but I can't buy more Shambling Vent and Canopy Vista. I personally use Caves of Koilos + Sandsteppe Citadel, and trying Ally Encampment. If you really need to search for a land, the is also Evolving Wilds but since the land enter tapped anyway, I think the Citadel is better.

Arnir & Iron_Cube I understand the problems around the expensive cards, I personally don't have all of these cards yet and some I probably won't get them anytime soon. I only put these cards up here because it makes the deck stronger and faster, so use whatever works for you if you can't get some of these cards.

Definetly love how it's come together, asked some of the expert deck Brewers at my local store what they thought of the list and they figured it was fairly strong. Working now on putting it together got the expensive stuff but having trouble finding the cards out of fate reforged for some reason. Will post how it does once I get it all together.

Do find it funny the people complaining about the expensive land. While learning to play I had a pro tell me that budget and competitive are two different things unfortunately. When you netdeck you're looking to get the most competitive deck of a strategy you like, if it speeds up the deck to add a fetch DO IT!!! If you're looking at the deck and think you can tweak the deck to make it cheaper and still work for you than do it.

I'm going to state that this deck is faster with the Windswept Heath because you can use it to fetch Canopy Vista which is a source of 2 colors of manaShambling Vent can turn into a creature with lifeline when you feel like it which I think is nice to have, can't tell you the number of times I've had an opponent attack me not keeping in mind my land effects.

Did you tried Veteran Warleader or Unified Front, maybe even Nirkana Assassin ?

November 3, 2015 10:07 p.m.

I'm running a very similar deck. I don't think you have enough land. I'm currently experimenting with Retreat to Emeria which lets me flood the field with ally creatures, which activates Kalastria Healer every turn.

The zulaports don't really make that much sense in the deck, imo. Bloodbond Vampire, however, would fit in very well, as would Malakir Familiar against those pesky Mantis Riders and the like.

I really enjoy this deck! I wonder if a few cards could improve it even more. Firstly what about Ruthless Ripper - it doesn't give you life but when cast face down it takes an easy 2 life and has deathtouch. Also Touch of Moonglove and/or Retreat to Hagra might be an interesting addition. After playing with this deck many times I found (surprisingly) Sorin, Solemn Visitor hasn't really been that useful - nor has the 3 Drana, Liberator of Malakir. Maybe reduce to one of each and try some of the above enchantments? I like the addition of Retreat to Emeria and am going to try it. Lastly also considering Foul-Tongue Shriek and possibly Defiant Bloodlord ...Any thoughts?

Got the deck together and waiting to throw down at FNM however after some thinking as well as some outside input I'm thinking to improve the smoothness of this deck and help it do what it wants to do it would be wise to do the following and it is in fact what I'm thinking of doing:

-Cut Valorous Stance and Erase entirely, add in 3x Retreat to Emeria in main deck and 3x Dromoka's Command in the side board (probably should be main deck but i don't know what to cut)

Replacing erase with dromoka's command is the smart move as it's still the same converted mana cost and allows you to make the opponent sac an enchantment with bonuses of your choice. In terms of replacing valorous stance with retreat I like the thought of it just because the idea behind this deck is drain and gain life, retreat to emeria can either give your creature +1/+1 till end of turn or even better is give you a steady stream of chump blockers who are allies as well, this is great because it gives you the rally trigger on Kalastria Healer imagine having 4 healers out and 2 retreats, you play a fetch land and fetch another land, that's 4 land fall triggers which gives you 4 allies which gives you 16 rally triggers total, that's drain 16 life and gain 16. Obviously the odds of that happening are somewhat low but the thought is nice. You can also block with the allies tokens or block with them which combos nicely with your Zulaport Cutthroat and Brutal Hordechief

Another consideration as a maybe is to cut one drana liberator for another emmisarry but I'm gonna run the deck as its set up for now to see how it plays
