Since you have no non-sliver spells in your deck, why not use Ancient Ziggurat instead of either the Gemstone Caverns or the City of Brass ? I'd actually take out both sets of those lands and add more slivers or a set of AEther Vial to get them out faster. Here's my deck if you want some other ideas for slivers - Slivers beat Merfolk!

I completely forgot about Ancient Ziggurat. I know AEther Vial is a very powerful card, but I'm still on the fence about it. I want the deck to be as aggressive as possible. I know it gives funny combat tricks if blocked or no blockers and could even help out if the opponent has Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon. I'll have to see what's going on in my area before I add that. Thanks though. Very much appreciated.

Maybe you could try to add a few Mutavault for even more aggro if that's what you want? You generally only need 1-2 land that gives any color to fix all your creatures with the exception of the Hivelord. I'd replace a pair of the legendary land for them at least, since the caverns are a dead draw when you have one on the board with a counter on it. Also if you're going for all-out aggresiveness, I'd cut the total land count down to 20 to add in more slivers. Sidewinder Sliver and Sentinel Sliver as 2-ofs maybe? Or do a 3-3 split with Sidewinder and Striking Sliver (Sidewinder is effectually another 'lord' sliver in combat).

Ok, I've been testing and testing and the Gemstone Caverns are good some of the time and pretty bad the rest of the time. I will admit that. I still don't want Mutavaults because they're colorless mana and I want to explode with whatever color I'd want for maximum sliver output.

I agree, you really should play AEther Vial . On the other side I would consider cutting some lands and playing 4x Gemhide Sliver . If you want mana with your Gemstone Mine also later in the game, just replace the Swamp with an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth !
September 24, 2014 11:38 a.m.
Any suggestions on what to take out, besides the Swamp for Urborg? I didn't even think of Urborg at all. But I am thinking moving the Diffusion Slivers to the board and possibly the Frenetic Slivers. I will admit, building a sliver deck is fun, but it's also frustrating cause you could go a million different directions. I could add Boros Charms, bolts, paths and such or just keep it creature based.

Could even cut black, but then you'd lose the extra point of damage with Leeching Sliver, the single Syphon Sliver AND the legends, which kind of hurts. This deck is a headache to make.

You don't need a basic mountain if you're looking for things to take out. Basics are in there only to battle Blood Moon but I wouldn't worry about not getting red if you're against a deck that uses blood moon effects. Cavern of Souls and Ancient Ziggurat don't work well with MD Boros Charm , so I'd keep the Diffusion Sliver s in there for game 1 at least. If you want more removal, putting Venom Sliver in the MD would be a better idea than a bunch of charms that you can't use half of your manabase to cast.

Fair enough and basics are also for Paths and Ghost Quarters. But I did take out the single mountain. I will fully admit that taking out black seems better. Since I live in the Pittsburgh area, I have 14 months to make a decent deck so I'll be tweaking a lot til then.

Gotta run 4x AEther Vial . It's what brings the deck together. I find that the best way to play Slivers is to play them the same way that we play Merfolk. AEther Vial to bring out creatures and leave mana open for counterspells. I play a Legacy Sliver deck that uses this methodology and it's a lot of fun. Slivers Just Got Smart.. A Modern version would run some Spell Pierce and Spell Snare and a couple Mana Leak to make sure your Slivers stay alive and that you don't get overwhelmed.

a couple of cards that helped me with my slivers is Chromatic Lantern and Door of Destinies . Those two cards will allow you to turn all mana into any color and give all your slivers +1/+1. Im partial to the rainbow sliver decks though. Sliver Queen , Sliver Overlord , and Sliver Legion are three of my favorites. Mana is always a problem though. Gemhide Sliver , and Manaweft Sliver are musts for a deck like this.

One card Ive seen work really well in a sliver deck is Call to the Kindred . Also, what about some Megantic Sliver and Hive Stirrings
October 24, 2014 11:48 a.m.
Good suggestions, but Call screams 2 for 1 all day and Megantic costs too much. If Stirrings was an instant, I would strongly consider it. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll try and switch it around possibly.

Why are you running Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth but no black cards? Also, Leeching Sliver is fantastic. He's basically another sliver lord and can really put the hate on your opponent.
You also don't need so many lands if you can stick to 1-2 cmc slivers. Modern Slivers? gives you a good idea of what good 1-2 drops there are. It'll open up 4 more spots in your deck and make it much faster.

Speaking of swarming.. Thorncaster Sliver and Brood Sliver?
January 5, 2015 1:19 p.m.
Urborg makes Ancient Ziggurat and Cavern of Souls more useful if I need a land that won't blowup or just be used for creatures. I had Leeching Sliver when I first cycled this deck and it made sense to take it out for stronger slivers. Yes I am aware that it does 1 damage for each attacking sliver and they don't even have to make contact. I just figured since it's fragile that Cautery Sliver would be a bigger body and I can do instant damage to either creatures or opponents. As for the Thorncaster and Brood Slivers, I had Thorncaster and Venom sliver in sideboard but my meta has plenty of burn, robots, pod and the like. I am completely open to suggestions and would also explain every card in my deck. Also, Brood Sliver isn't modern legal. It would help possibly if it was because I can just attack without a care in the world and refill my army possibly.

love the bender reference - +1 from me. that said.. seems like this deck could benefit from some kind of a draw mechanic.
January 7, 2015 12:04 p.m.
Yep. I just literally thought that also. What would you suggest and what would be replaced? Probe and/or the thing from Mirrodin Besieged would possibly work.

I seriously hate to recommend this, but Treasure Cruise might work here. I think your biggest threat is board wipe and removal, which would fill up your graveyard pretty quick. Cruise might allow you to capitalize on that. I just hate seeing the same card in every deck lol.
Other options I'd look at: Phyrexian Arena and Sword of Fire and Ice.
January 7, 2015 12:24 p.m.
Cruise I can see as a possible SB option because if I have 2 or more in my hand, it'd be dead if they don't have removal. Maybe 1 main. Arena I don't know about, but I will test it both in main and board. Sword, it doesn't need an explanation. It's just simply good (all three suggestions make the single Urborg useful if I have nothing but Ziggurats or Mines that're ready to die). I will test all three suggestions. Thanks

I've been trying to find a good sliver deck that really shows me the power of slivers and i think I've found it! Good Job! Very Aggro for a sliver deck and an aggressive sliver deck does not have the disadvantage of falling late game. The only thing i see beating this is some sort of control ... if they could pass the first 5 turns XD!
