Sideboard

This is my take on Esper Control. It's nothing you haven't seen before from an Esper list except for a few minor changes.

The one major difference is I do not run Last Breath and I run Hero's Downfall main. I never personally liked Last Breath and Hero's Downfall helps with the problematic creatures or planeswalkers we face. Downfall takes the pressure off of Detention Sphere by being able to hit the things that sphere can't. Also, Downfall hits things that Last Breath and Doom Blade cannot. I also don't have any Mutavaults. The awkward draws with it are more of a hindrance to the deck than any benefit it provides. Plus with Downfalls and Doom Blade, opposing Mutavaults are not that scary, and we don't trade any lands.

This deck wins the same as any other typical Esper list with either Elspeth, Sun's Champion, AEtherling or Sphinx's Revelation.

The sideboard changes with the meta you face. I don't personally own Archangel of Thune nor have I tested the deck with that as sideboard tech. Blood Baron of Vizkopa and Obzedat, Ghost Council are primarily for control matchups. I feel the rest of the tech is good against the rest of the field. Fiendslayer Paladin is primarily used against Burn. I don't really want it in any other matchup so that's a fringe card for me. Revoke is for MUD/UWD for Thassa, God of the Sea.
