Modern* Cruel Control Mono-Black

Lordfishyy

Sideboard

i created a deck that limits my opponents plans of success and slowly beats them down. (ermahgerd thats like the lamest description ever)

Bloodghast basically unremovable, once its in play, its pretty much going to stay there until my opponent dies.

Technically not a creature, but i use Mutavault as a creature that can't die unless during combat, basically a one mana 2/2.. very efficient and powerful.

Also technically not a creature, Lingering Souls is in there for when i get targeted with discard and when i Smallpox, allowing me to discard Lingering Souls which allows me to produce spirit tokens (with flying, making them harder to block). about as effective as Mutavault and Bloodghast

Smallpox is REALLY annoying to my opponents, doesn't hurt me as much because i won't have creatures to sac and i can just discard a Lingering Souls and/or Bloodghast

Devour Flesh, Doomblade, Geth's Verdict, Victim of Night, Hero's Downfall, Cruel Edict, Go for the Throat all different forms of creature removal, some sacrifice but less efficient, some destroy but slightly more efficient. Don't run all Doomblade or Victim of Night because if my opponent has one of those creatures, at least i'll be able to kill it with something. Sacrifice gets around hexproof and indestructible, and Geth's Verdict is a great card to play on turn 2 whether they have a Deathrite Shaman, Melira, Sylvok Outcast, etc. it pops it before they can do anything... annoying.

deathcloud. If they ever recover, this card puts them down to square one ideally around turn 8 or 9 (when my hand starts to deplete)... even good around turn 5-7 as a double smallpox.

Rain of Tears . Sometimes Great, Sometimes ineffective, but a card i want in the deck. if i don't draw a Smallpox and they don't have a great early game, then this card cuts them down (found rain of tears worked really well against pod...). Still iffy about a playset though.

Ghost Quarter Will replace their dual land with a basic, usually helps, and against a deck with all dual-lands (usually tri-color decks) it becomes a Strip Mine.

Augur of Skulls Still really iffy on this card, not that effective, but if your opponent doesn't kill it, on my turn 3 upkeep i get a Mind Rot for free, allowing me to use my mana for other forms of mayhem.

Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek. Not only something to play turn one, but i get to see their hand AND cut their early game to pieces.

I am on kind've a budget, so i am not using Liliana of the Veil or more Thoughtseize, Deathrite Shaman, etc. Those probably will eventually be put in, but for now i think this deck can run without them.
