Commander / EDH

robinhoody430

Have you ever wondered why you can't reasonably play a draw-go build in multiplayer commander? Do you sometimes find yourself wishing you could steer the chaotic flow of an EDH battle? Well, look no further, this deck is just what the doctor ordered! In a revolutionary first-of-its-kind idea, this non-mill, non-storm Jeleva deck employs tactics found in the draw-go decks of other formats. In order to increase the ability to fend off multiple opponents over longer games, this deck comes equipped with plenty of permanent-based, long-term card advantage, exemplified in the form of Phyrexian Arena, Rhystic Study, and Trail of Evidence.

Now you might be asking yourself "why not Kess, dissident mage ?" or "wow, that's certainly not as iconic of a commander as Nicol Bolas...", and for that we have to look at all Jeleva brings to the table. For an initial investment of 4 mana, you can cast a fair number of cards in your deck (if you're willing to deal with a bit of RNG to do so), but you also gain access to other decks at the table as well (it feels real good to cast Cultivate in a grixis deck). In addition, the lack of apparent threat often makes Jeleva fly under the radar long enough to cast a couple simple spells like Lightning Bolt and/or card:Doomblade - now that's what I call card advantage. One more important piece to the puzzle that is Jeleva and her deck: When playing in multiplayer, it's often especially important to save your spells in the early game to deal with larger threats later in the game. Jeleva fills in that early game gap in the action, while other people might be ramping or establishing early game presence, you can cast your commander to set up for casting free spells later on when necessary, sometimes even playing a political role or warding people off by threatening to cast the revealed cards she exiled.
