FinalZen could you give this a look

what about some Sunblade Elf s? might as well if you are going greenwhite. 1 mana usually for a 2/2 with a relevant ability

October 12, 2014 1:17 a.m.

His ability doesnt involve counters, which with Hardened Scales are super good. The second ability doesnt specify target creatures so I couldn't activate heroic with it, unfortunately. A 1 drop for a 2/2 is nice but I cant see myself taking anything out for him.

October 12, 2014 12:04 p.m.

i thought the +1/+1 from a plains would give it first strike and flying from the falconer and ainok. i thought it was a plus one counter that was placed on him.

October 12, 2014 12:14 p.m.

Nah, counters are relatively permanent, his ability is a conditional and it has to specifically say +1/+1 counter. Thanks for the suggestion though

October 12, 2014 12:19 p.m.

ok thanks. i play green white and struggle to make a standard playable deck. with khans, there are so many good decks like black blue control and jeskai.

October 12, 2014 12:36 p.m.

Well with green white you should really pick whether you want midrange or ramp like I have. I recommend using a splash of black for various abzan creatures and removal spells e.g. Abzan Charm . I only have Banishing Light as my removal, but I have several creatures and cards that specifically protect my creatures such as Feat of Resistance , Gods Willing , Mistcutter Hydra and Fleecemane Lion .

October 12, 2014 12:44 p.m.

black have good removal and is good for abzan cards. i use 2 Banishing Light and 2 Devouring Light . is there any green/white aggro decks out there?

October 12, 2014 12:58 p.m.

Ramp is about it, drop a bunch of cheap heroic creatures and a hardened scale, then play a multi targeting spell or a couple cheap spells and you have a huge board state

Two initial questions:

  • 1 How is this ramp?

  • 2 How is this competitive?

In saying this I mean no offense. I'm legitimately curious what your win condition is against other top tier decks. Outlast is a fine ability... in other formats. Drafting and sealed get taken over by this that effect, because it's slower with less immediate "have to deal with" threats. For constructed formats I think outlast is too slow and clunky. You can't outlast the turn they come out, and it's only as a sorcery. I understand that you have other means to put counters on them, but even still I think it's not fast enough for the current standard (as slow and midrange-y as it is now). Also the various board-wipes going around such as End Hostilities will just win the game against you.

All that being said, I do like the deck. I think Savage Punch could be decent removal for you too.

October 12, 2014 1:06 p.m.

I never outlast with those creatures, there are only two of each in here because giving all of my 5/5 creatures flying and first strike is usually a win. By turn 5 or 6 Ill have loads of large creatures on the field. Phalanx leader and hardened scales on the board at the same time give two +1/+1 to all other creatures, and if im playing really cheap targeting spells or there are multiple hardened scales it gets ridiculous. I prefer Setessan Tactics to Savage Punch in this deck because it targets multiple creatures, but I removed it because I wanted more cheap spells that protect my creatures.

Okay, I could see that being decent. How is it ramp though? I see none in here unless I'm missing something.

October 12, 2014 1:49 p.m.

What do you mean you dont see it? I play small heroic creatures and ramp them up using hardened scales, this isnt mana ramping, its creature ramping. I have played several games where I get multiple creatures up to 12/12 in a short amount of time.

Oh okay. I've never heard ramp used in that sense is all.

Im thinking about adding Preeminent Captain if I do I may want to splash black for Anafenza, the Foremost and Armament Corps . -FinalZen, any thoughts on this?

I'd definitely keep the full set of Hardened Scales and add a full set of Fabled Hero . Turn 1 play hardened scales. Turn 3 play Fabled Hero. Turn 4 play 2x Feat of resistance on Fabled Hero. 10/10 double strike with protection from 2 colors.

October 16, 2014 10:57 a.m.

Ive been tempted run him for some time, ill try him out next time I play. Id have to take out two cards to add four of him and another hardened scale(assuming i took out the setessan oathsworn)

i believe that however mainstream it is, azorious is much better than selesnya/settessa for heroic decks, gives you more survivability and a control aspect, check my heroic out Anti-removal Heroes

Sunblade Elf seems to be perfect for this

October 26, 2014 3:12 p.m.

Just making sure youre clear on what the card means... the plains doesnt put a counter on him, just a situational +1/+1. Now, a 1 drop for a 2/2 could be nice aggro.

October 26, 2014 3:49 p.m.

But he's competing with Lagonna Band Trailblazer for those three spots

Yah it is a difficult give up, Could be useful in some situations but for this meta his 2/2 isnt that great against all the 2/1's out there.

You could try Savage Punch and Setessan Tactics for removal while triggering heroic at the same time :)

February 11, 2015 9:46 a.m.

I liked Setessan Tactics, but I removed it for protection or draw cards. I cant really see me taking anything out

Tactics can really work well for you against r/w and temur
