Thanks. I just went off to college and the community here is WAY more competitive than my previous meta. I would like any helps or suggestions. Please don't just blert out cards. Instead, suggest a card/ tactic and explain how it could be used. I have about 5 Rhys that i still haven't deleted and even though i know why, i don't see the reason behind it in a deck that i plan to play fast. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Here's the best tactic for overcompetitive meta's: Limited. Nobody can beat you with a netdeck if you're drafting.

OK, so competitive meta.

The secret to beating a competitive metagame is the sideboard. If your deck is so-so, but you have 15 cards to shut down the most popular deck in your meta mainboard then a further 15 in SB you will find yourself hitting far above your weight. tis my preferred tactic unless I'm walking into a meta blind, at which point I'll just guess and throw stuff together until i get used to it.

List of Modern Sideboard Staples has proven to be fantastic for finding card to address situations, but it doesn't cover everything- there will be some stuff you'll want that isn't covered.

For this deck, I'd consider accelerrating into Thragtusk with some more mana dorks (Avacyn's Pilgrim perhaps,) in place of Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage, the deliverences (which I'd move to SB) and advent of the worm. It would help stabilize and generate strong tokens, providing a more reliable lifegain in an aggressive meta.My other thought would be value generation through Collected Company with Blade Splicer/Desperate Sentry/Extricator of Sin to swarm the board, with stuff like Aven Riftwatcher and Bottle Gnomes sb to deal with aggro.

The big thing with any metagame change is that its situational. The teir 1 decks are there because they're allright against allcomers, and good against the other A listers, performing well in large tornaments- but no metagame conforms perfectly. If there are <50 people playing regularly, you will be able to construct something that wins against most of them, it just takes some study, ingenuity and the occasional Pithing Needle or Asceticism. Good luck!

I edited the deck to what i play now. I really like Extricator of Sin to have Voice of Resurgence die late game and to be able to do nifty blocking later in the game. I'm not very ecstatic of playing Thragtusk. I may try playtesting two of them in my deck.

I have a deck similar to this but this deck is by far better than my deck but I recommend 2 things Midnight Guard and Presence of Gond for infinite tokens

I actually had Serra Avatar in this deck for a few months to test it but realistically, I could never get it out And at that point i usually have my guildmage out which populating with her is a more logical mana dump.

If i may ask, why Conjurer's Closet?

If you have Trostani, Selesnya's Voice on the board, you can bounce the strongest creature and gain tha much life. it was just a thought

you might want to add in a Emmara Tandris because she is strong against swarm hate like Tremor
