You thought it was spirits, but was I, CMC abuse!

Commander / EDH Budget Combo Ramp Tokens Voltron

The few silly people who even consider making the massively overcosted Iname as One as their commander look mostly at it's effect and go "Oh, so it's like some kind of horrible spirit tribal leader where you have to return it to your hand to get it's full effect." And even though I thought of this at first, I was more interested in that massively juicy CMC it's got. (EMN update: All hail our new Emrakul overlord!), I thought there's got to be ways to make this guy some jank combos.

The one thing that Iname has over Ulamog is colors, meaning we can add some variety to the way we abuse that hefty CMC. Black and green means that we get access to mana ramp, graveyard abuse, and sac outlets, meaning that we'll probably only need to cast Iname once (and cry when someone plays Rest in Peace). After some searching, most CMC abuse cards require the card to be on top of your library, so most combos will be sac Iname->Put it on top from grave->???->Profit! Was a little disappointed that it might only be a one-off combo, since Gravepurge isn't a per.... Haunted Crossroads, omg, why couldn't I have known about this card earlier!? It's freaking amazing, and a very big piece of the combos, so it'll come down to throwing in quite a few tutors to get it out.

But of course, the deck doesn't have to be all about combos; Iname is an 8/8 after all and has access to the full power that is the Hedron Matrix , making it a whooping 20/20 with just 1 equipment. With all the mana ramp that we have, if Iname is allowed to live for 1 turn, you can easily spend 8 to bring out the matrix and 2 for Dragon Shadow and hit for lethal on an unsuspecting opponent, and even then, if the shadow's in your grave, you don't even need to pay the extra 2.

Combos:

Iname as One / Draco +Haunted Crossroads/Gravepurge+Infernal Genesis/Baneful Omen = craptonna tokens or 12+ damage each turn

Iname as One / Draco +Haunted Crossroads/Gravepurge+ Omen Machine / Lurking Predators = free cast each turn

Iname as One / Draco +Soldevi Adnate+Exsanguinate/Profane Command = 12+ direct damage + life

Iname as One / Draco + Hedron Matrix + Essence Harvest = 20+ direct damage + life

I am always open to suggestions. most of the cards on this list I already own and, since it is a silly jank commander, would prefer to keep it budget friendly, but if another silly combo comes out of an expensive card, then I'm all ears! Enjoy! (And yes, I have better lands, was just a little lazy on that part)

Updates Add

I haven't messed with this deck in a while, thought that since there was a new G/B commander deck I could update this one for it; that and some of the prices for the cards in here fluctuated quite dramatically, gonna be substituting some stuff to try and bring it down.

Changes:

Awakening Zone -> From Beyond : This change was mainly done to drive down the price, but having tokens that can actually hit back for 1 more mana is pretty good. The Beyond is also better if I ever decide to throw in a Void Winnower.

Deadbridge Chant -> Nyx Weaver : The Chant does not feel that impactful and the random part is too risky for a combo deck. The Nyx weaver is half the cost, has reach (which is a big problem with this deck), and gets back any card that I need (also brings down the price slightly).

Gravepurge -> Reviving Melody : While the 1 time Gravepurge is good if we don't have the crossroads, I think I'd rather have things that can get the Crossroads back rather than a multitude of creatures.

Kozilek's Predator -> Magus of the Coffers : Trying to get away from the 1 time use sac Eldrazi tokens and more to more permanent forms of mana ramp.

Nest Invader -> Wild Mongrel : Same thing as the predator. The mongrel was thrown in because it can become black for the Soldevi Adnates and has a reliable discard, which combos well with the Library of Leng.

Parallel Lives -> Meren of Clan Nel Toth : Since we're moving away from the Eldrazi tokens, Parallel lives seemed less needed. Meren has stupid easy recursion and would be silly not to include in here.

Perilous Forays -> Black Market : Can never have enough black mana! Also have less tokens to sac to the forays now.

Regrowth -> Recollect : Purely price reduction.

Skittering Invasion -> Boundless Realms : Lands > Eldrazi.

Trepanation Blade -> Blanket of Night : With the loss of Urborg, I still wanted to get the most out of the Crypt Ghast and the Magus. Not as effective as Urborg, but still works. (Tbh, I'm not entirely sure how the Trep blade made it in here in the first place)

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth -> Command Beacon : The recent sudden jump in price of Urborg had to warrant its removal to keep the deck semi-budget (it will definitely be missed). On the flip side, there could not have be a better land printed for this deck than Command Beacon. The deck is based around throwing Iname in your grave or hand at most times, so any way to get around that Godawful mana cost is a Godsend. In fact, I will more than likely be throwing in a Sylvan Scrying just to fetch this amazing land. The price still kinda hurts the budget part of the deck, but it is definitely needed in here (that and I actually picked one up when they first came out for about $5).

Zombie Trailblazer -> Netherborn Phalanx : With Iname not necessarily required to be on the field anymore thanks to the Beacon, the unblockable given by the Trailblazer seems less needed. The Phalanx not only adds another tutor, it gives us a way to discourage token strategies.
