Welcome to my deck! This is a budget monoblack 8rack deck, definitely a more reactive-type list (running removal rather than Ensnaring Bridge), since I can't afford the alternative. I'm not going to spend energy working on this deck currently, as the card advantage afforded by Dig Through Time and Treasure Cruise essentially invalidate the deck.
DISCARD
In this category, we've got Inquisition of Kozilek, Raven's Crime, Duress, Despise, Wrench Mind and sometimes Funeral Charm. That's a whopping 16-19 discard spells, 15 of them at a single mana. Plus, with a Raven's Crime in my yard, my discard spell count spikes up by 22--it turns all of my land into copies of Raven's Crime, which is bonkers. Use these to destroy your opponent's hand as quickly as you possibly can. Without cards, he's helpless.
BOARD CONTROL
Unfortunately, stuff slips through. Creatures hit the field and can't be left alive. Here we've got Geth's Verdict and Victim of Night. I've also just added Pack Rat, and I'm really excited for that here. It works as another finisher alongside The Rack and Shrieking Affliction, but it's more versatile (if less powerful). It can attack early, block, and (unfortunately) eat removal.
ENDGAME
So, your opponent is topdecking with no board state on turn 4. Great! Now what? Well, that's what Shrieking Affliction, The Rack, and Necrogen Mists are for. The first two are your damage dealers and will actually finish off your opponent. The problem is that people tend to hold on to their cards to stay out of harm's way. With a grip full of cards, they're safe. That's what Necrogen Mists is for. If they play it, fine. If they don't play it, they'll discard it next turn anyways. Essentially, it locks down their hand at a very low number.
MANABASE
We've got a mess of Swamps and a couple Dakmor Salvages. The Salvages are here for their interaction with Raven's Crime, which is achieved by using it to retrace Crime and dredging it back up turn after turn, for a nice soft lock.
I'll post more on the sideboard later, but this is the area where I need the most work.
