No clue. I thought the other version would be more expensive. The mana here is a lot quicker. It does look like it could be a stronger deck. I hate to get rid of blue entirely, but it might just be the better move. Thanks for making me consider it.

Any suggestions for this build? I wasn't sure what cards to add, so I mostly just threw in whatever I thought would be good so I could get up to 60 cards. Maybe I'll take a look at your deck.

Gritted my teeth and put in fastlands/checklands. Hopefully I'll be able to trade for them or find them cheap somewhere.

They are not mandatory if you play budget with such a low manacurve, buy them one by one.

In my deck, I mention almost every viable card, in my mono-black too. Except maybe Blackmail xD

Rakdos's Return , or Liliana and other non-budget option. Still, Nyxathid . I finish the deck IRL some days ago, and 4 B/R fast/check lands = 26$

I don't like Rakdos's Return . At 1, it's a horrible Blightning . It doesn't actually get good until probably 5 or 6 mana, and then it's just dealing damage because you've made them drop most of their hand, so you'll only hit their hand for 1 or 2, tops. It doesn't work in a dedicated discard deck. I'd rather have something like Fireball most of the time.

I guess I'll build it and see how it goes. I've always got the blue version to fall back against.

Crazy price!! probably a bug could be those damn basic lands, since those versions go for about 10-20 bucks each and you have 15 so yea add it up almost looking about that much. Don't think it would be a problem changing its set for better art though who knows...

Interesting that you decided to just go B/R poor blue! and poor Sedraxis Specter well at least you can swap out. I would take out The Rack never liked the art on it haha...up to you though it is good but replace it with one more Shrieking Affliction far better art!

Blazing Specter would be good here for its speed but it's not modern only problem but good for casual I suppose. I think this deck is set not sure what else to add or recommend! seems good i'll have to test it see how it runs I'll let you know!

lol the high price is a glitch or something. I just clicked on checkout to see what was so expensive and it only cost $40 or so. Not $275.

Mind Rot , or Wit's End

Wrench Mind and Augur of Skulls are cheaper versions of Mind Rot and Blightning is just incredible.

Wit's End is too slow. My goal is to have them out of cards by the time I hit 7 mana. Thanks for the +1 and stopping by, though!

Also run a control Rakdos deck and replaced Wrench Mind by Rise/Fall which is great :) If used correctly, Its randomness is awesome.

Take a look at it and comment if you like: Rakdos Infection. Depending on your meta, it might give some ideas for the sideboard :)

Well, I replaced a full set of Wrench Mind by a full set of Rise/Fall and aI am pretty happy with the results :)

How often do they show two cards? It seems like it would end up being them discarding one or no cards a lot. But maybe I'm wrong. I'll try this and see how I like it.

By two cards I mean two nonland cards.

@twospires the trick is not to use Rise/Fall blindly. I have six cards (among Inquisition of Kozilek , Thoughtseize and Duress ) that allow me to see opponent's hand before playing Rise/Fall .

On turn one, if I see too many lands, I don't play Rise/Fall on turn two and wait. Following this rule, most of the times your opponent will discard two cards and, more important, he'll discard two cards that he wouldn't discard if he could choose them :) Even if he discards only one, he'll probably be discarding a good card..
