Yuriko - Take 15% or More off your Mana Costs

Commander / EDH Competitive Jank Theme/Gimmick UB (Dimir)

Slevin1204

Intro:

This is an $$$$ 75% deck. If you want a 100% CEDH Yuriko deck you should be looking at doomsday piles. I designed this deck because my playgroup consistently plays high-powered 75% decks. Set aside is a doomsday pile sideboard that I use to make Yuriko a CEDH deck if necessary. Why play 75% decks? Because it is not fun when people consistently win on turn 1-3, you also get to see more shenanigans in 4-5 player pods of 75%. I mean in many 100% decks you can win on turn 0, so it comes down to who goes first. But enough justification lets move on to the deck.

Deck Goals:

So the purpose of this deck is to obviously deal table damage. After looking at and evaluating a variety of yuriko decks, a consistent flaw I noticed was that ninjas were tempoing players out of their own games. Not to mention 10 ninjas takes up prime real estate in your deck. So I went the route of creature hacking. "But Slevin, why you no play conspiracy?" No particular reason, play conspiracy if you want, but I felt like having a 2 cost creature hack ([Unnatural Selection]) that I can transmute for was particularly useful, and 4 creature hacks felt like too many. With creature hacking I effectively turn all my 1 and 2 drops into ninjas with evasion which feels great. The nice part about the deck is the high mana curve is offset by alternative costs. Oh no you drew into that 8 mana creature that you actually wanted to use for top deck damage but now its in your hand? Oh well, cycle it EoT and start fueling up for your Delve mechanics. The tutors let you decide when you want to pop off and win the game, typically what you're looking for is a way to take extra turns/deal massive damage in a single combat phase. Incidental chipping is nice early on, with most of the table being at 20 odd life - when you can pop off you can typically win in a single combat. With a particular strong draw, you can pop off with players at 30 life, taking extra turns. The big counters you hold in hand are alternative cost as well, which helps with you using mana for important things, like tutors/extra turns. There is still a lot of tinkering, and this deck set doesn't match my exact set up I have in my deck right now (extra turn cards particularly are still being tinkered with) but this is the jist of it. Feel free to give feedback on cards to swap out.
