Yuriko v265656

Commander / EDH

Dazeproof

Maybeboard

Sup guyz I spent the last 2 weeks exclusively working on this Yuriko list.

I wanted to share some thoughts with you : - you need a good density of 0-1 drops with evasion to be sure to be able to ninjutsu yuriko on turn 2 - once yuri on play post ninjutsu, you really need to sac her/ give her evasion (or chumpblock with her) - deck is very manavore, so a low curve is really important - you have to spend a lot of mana during your own turn, which left few manas open to interact during other players turns - i run 10 bounce "owner's hand" spells, which make gilded drake the best card in the deck, it's not rare to steal 4/5 fatties during a game just chaning ablities of venser/equilibirum/etc to bounce gilded and replay it ad nauseam - the perfect creatures for the deck are low cmc, have evasion and an etb ability, you don't have many options doing all this (baleful strix for example) - most cards have to fulfill more than one task in this deck

The deck is constructed as follow : - 11 one drop with evasiosn - 10 bounce enablers spells/permanents - 8 etb value creatures - 10 counterspells - 6/7 removals - 5 tutors - 10/11 spells with 'big' cmc (5 mana and more, all are playable with alternative costs like miracle, delve, exile..) to deal dmg with yuriko - 3 permanent evasion enablers (shizo, tetsuko, windgrace) - 9 miscellaneous cards (ramp, extra turn, cantrip, hatebear...) - 34 lands (only 2,5 non colored producer, tower counting only for half one since tha mana base is very colored needy)

the best cards/ the cards who surprised me the most : - phyrexian tower, allow you to put yuri back on the cmdr zone every turn, little bonus : you ramp BB - gilded drake, you have so many ways to abuse him here - equilibrium, to bounce not only yuri, but also the others etb creatures (and gilded) to generate a shitload of value, the card act as a cloudstone curio for you but also bounce the opponents creatures if needed, really impressive in this deck -tetsuko, give evasion to the whole deck minus few exceptions, broken card. Especially relevant if you can't bounce back yuri or if the opponent have flying creatures open for blocking - wingcrafter, really cheap option to give yuri (or another ninja) evasion - silumgar sorcerer, a very good target to bounce, allow you to sac yuri and counter creatures - hypnotic siren, one of the many one drop with evasion to connect ninjutsu, she transform in a steal card in late game, you just have to bounce her - scroll rack, obvious, to put back on top the big cmc in resp of yuri trigger every turn - arcane adaptation/xenograft to transform all the creatures in ninja, it's most of the time GG if you have it + yuriko and 4/5 other critters. I decided to not run the third one (conspiracy) because you really don't want to see more than one and the setup is kinda heavy, moreover the deck have many tutors - abjure, a hard counter for only U with a sup. cost who is an advantage most of the time - Minamo, not as good as shizo, but you can surprise-untap yuriko during an opponent combat step to chumpblock, you save life and return her in the cmdr zone, really nice

The cards who didn't impressed me (beside the 100+ i alrdy ousted) : - sol ring, almost useless in the list, we almost only have colored cmc and the curve is really low, moreover the cmdr tax is nonexistent - the ninjas, contrary to the lists on edhrec, who for the most run literally all the ninjas availibles, even the shittiest ones, i only run mistblade and deep hours, who are the cheapest to ninjutsu and the most relevant. The fact they are reliant on bounce effects or tetsuko to be useful more than once is really annoying. On the other hand they can bounce etb creatures, give value (even if only once) and are ninjas for only U and 1U so i can't really say no - dimir infiltrator, too expensive for a vanilla unblockable here to enable ninjutsu, i just keep him in because in late you can bounce him to then profit from the transmute@2 toolbox (especially tetsuko, cyclo rift, scroll rack, counters and tutors) - swan song, not really optimal to give a flying token to an opponent when half thecreatures with evasion in the deck have flying - delve cards, initially i was running 4, i only run 2 now, it was quite tricky to have enough cards in the grave - rag // riche, the -2/-2 effect is really meh since it wipe our board (hopefully we can bounce creatures), but the second ability is ok and it's the biggest cmc (11) for yuriko. Probably the worst card in the deck, i'm still not sure if i should play temporal trepass or even draco instead (unplayable but cmc 16) as yuriko ability finisher.

All in all the deck is super fun to pilot, it's really an aggro deck more than anything else, which is really unusual for dimir. We really need to be aggro as soon as possible, but we also have options in late game, a lot of control and an insane value engine contrary to boros. The big weakness of the deck is the lack of game breaking spells in late, we have to play close to the ground, with lil critters. It make me think of drunk imperial navy kamikazes in their zero arrassing, turning around like flies and crashing every turn into an US carrier during the WW2. It's really how the deck feel like, and it's RP. Yuriko really shine in cedh instead of multi imho because its really oppressive but lack defense options and finishers. I made a 1v1 list too that i need to test more extensively.

Your advices are welcome, especially if you have any idea to improve the deck or see something i could have missed in the maybeboard. I plan to build the deck.
