Minor Tweaks 1/4/22 —Jan. 4, 2022

Horizon Stone is out, and Mana Reflection is in. The protection from my own burn is nice, but having access to another mana accelerator to help Yurlok go off is even better.

Harsh Mentor is gone, replaced by Destiny Spinner. Giving my enchantments extra protection is just too valuable.

Nice deck! Maybe add Dictate of Karametra for even more mana?

Maybe some enchantress effects could help get some additional card advantage since you're already running so many enchantments? (i.e. Enchantress's Presence or Setessan Champion)

Also Mana Reflection and Nyxbloom Ancient are great with Yurlok, since it double the mana given to opponents (I am not a judge, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong).

Mana Reflection and Nyxbloom Ancient only double and triple your mana, not your opponents mana.

King_marchesa ramping my Mana production is relevant for Yurlok. Since his tap ability produces Mana for opponents. Nyxbloom triples that effect (which is why it's already in the deck).

I plan on doing some updates tomorrow that will rearrange the list a bit.

i can see you whent with the more "group slug" route, my yurlok deck is the only deck i have that doesnt get me targeted, my play style is notmally being enemie #1 and i can tell you that if you play this deck you will be targeted out, if you want to prevent this theres 2 ways you can go 1) outhate the hate your getting. 2) tax them for targetting you or have 2 much protection to be targeted. your in black and green so both these options are a available. 1) would be something like focusing on hand hate or creature removal. 2) would be like preventing creatures from attacking you or making it so your permanents arnt targetable. with hand hate its better to remove the opponents hand rather then tax them for having a hand, theres also better cards to tax players for having no hand at all, also hand hate is best if you focus more on it rather then having some. creature hate is best when its hating on all creatures including your own but you can mix it up with taxing players for attacking you and creatures hate. for me personally i like out hating the hate but thats just my play style.

This is a really cool list you have going on! I love the synergy you've got with a bunch of your card picks and I think the strategy is great.

Could I suggest taking some more protection? Destiny Spinner is great to have alongside Vexing Shusher since you have 18 enchantments. Veil of Summer and Autumn's Veil are always solid picks too for protecting both your casts and your permanents on the field! You could also consider running Underworld Breach for some recursion in case important pieces of yours get blown up.

for your Awakening+Power Surge+Dosan the Falling Leaf/City of Solitude combo if you add in Helix Pinnacle its an easy win for you since you'll be getting lots of mana every turn and then you wont have to suffer

theseax Helix Pinnacle has been in the deck since the beginning (it's even listed in the description and wincon sections). I just didn't list every possible iteration of combos. But thank you anyway

Feiryn I did consider the Destiny Spinner and Veil of Summer early on, I'll add them back into the maybe board. Underworld Breach could be interesting. I have a spare copy or two so I might add it in if I ever get to actually build and play this deck depending on performance.

Awesome deck! I am surprised to not see Leyline of Abundance in here. It works much better with your primary combo as it nets you the exact amount of mana you need (4) so you have no possibility of taking mana burn. Plus it is cheaper to assemble and more resiliant than Nyxbloom Ancient.

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor it was originally in the list but was cut to make more room for stax/hate pieces. I can see about what I would do to make room for it

Hey, I was just thinking that it might be better to use Nature's Claim, instead of Wilt.

master_chalk, personally I like Wilt here because it can be cycled for times when you need a draw more.

Have you been able to play this deck yet? How does it perform? What type of decks is it strongest/weakest to in your opinion?

December 30, 2020 9:39 p.m.

Massacar says... #15

bjgergen alas, between covid preventing me from playing in person (my wife is immunocompromised) and both of my family cars dying at the same time, I have not yet had the resources or the opportunity to put this together to actually try. I've simulated the deck digitally and it's performed quite oppressively, but unfortunately no in person testing.

Looks like fun! Maybe Mana Flare would work well in the deck, too?

June 20, 2021 5:46 p.m.

Massacar says... #17

Zabladius Mana Flare was in the original versions of this list, but it was cut in favor of more stax/hate pieces. I'll keep it in my mind as always for if I want to edit this deck more of course.

ever thought about including Pain Magnification ? I think it could work well with some stax pieces

dualscars Definitely not a bad card and I will consider it. At the moment I don't know what I would want to cut to include it.
