Fatal Frenzy is a personal favorite.

+1, I REALLY want to make a deck with him.

I added some cards to my Maybeboard that I am thinking about

I really want to know if Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded should stay in or if I should swap it out.

I think I have the deck mostly done. More changes are possible but I would like to get some testing and feedback first.

Sun Droplet, Angelheart Vial for life gain?

October 9, 2015 5:45 a.m.

1empyrean says... #7

I might do Sun Droplet, it doesn't do much to counteract the life I anticipate losing to Treasonous Ogre which is my main reason for wanting some lifegain, but its probably never going to be useless. I just feel like it lacks impact for this deck.

Also, Priest of Urabrask out, Thermopod in. I feel like its probably a better fit in this deck.

I am strongly considering Soul Conduit as a combo with Treasonous Ogre.

I totally love the name. And the commander. And the deck. Good work and +1 from me. Also: Rush of Blood

October 12, 2015 7:23 p.m. Edited.

1empyrean says... #10

ThanksKala. Rush of Blood is good, but I don't really feel like it is necessary for the way I play. If I add it, it would replace Devouring Rage, which I use because it is an arcane spell. Swapping it out removes one of my splice targets that I like to combo with.

I too have a variation of this deck, though mine's a tiny different. Perhaps consider Desperate Ritual with Blazing Shoal to add ridiculous mana to your mana pool?

Regardless, looks good! And +1'd for the name alone, oh my god. You made me choke on my drink when I read it.

Desperate Ritual and Blazing Shoal are already in the deck, but thanks. Overblaze and Strange Inversion serve the same function. (its in deck description)

Blazing Shoal is also part of the reason I feel comfortable running so many 5-drops (my mana curve looks a little odd because of that). I can pretty much depend on a free +5/+0.

What about the good old Aggravated Assault + Sword of Feast and Famine combo?

Zada + Twinflame + Dualcaster Mage is an infinite combo by the way.

I would add Arcane Lighthouse even with Glaring Spotlight in the deck.

Why not use Chaos Warp? Especially with lots of tokens this is fun with Zada.

I originally planned on using Aggravated Assault + Sword of Feast and Famine but cut them in favor of allowing Zada to do her own thing.

I knew about the combo, but I felt that it didn't warrant mention as it works without Zada as well.

I am using all my Arcane Lighthouses elsewhere and neither this deck or my local meta really require it. It is a fantastic card, so if I get another, i might add it.

The reason I am not using Chaos Warp is that with a large number of creatures, I should already be able to win, and using it would actually reduce the number of creatures I have by a large percentage and gut my board state in general. In practice, I feel that this card is really only good as a removal spell and the removal I have works better with Zada imo. If I did add it, it would be to replace Arcbond which isn't intended to let me win (although, it can), it is intended to blow everyone (including me) up.

I am trying out a few changes. Ill undo the changes if I feel they aren't working.

Out:

  • Kher Keep: Too little, too slow. I have quite a bit of token production and this is pretty much the least of them.
  • Burn at the Stake: Nice card, and it works well here, but I don't really like it for this deck.

+1 for the name. That's brilliant. I really like this deck.

It's a solid deck, but you earn +1 for the title alone!

hmmm, i've been trying to figure out what to do about the Possibility Storm trigger if I only run one planeswalker. It occurs to me that I don't have to run another planeswalker if I use Strionic Resonator, which is a pretty good card for Zada decks in general.

Should I run it?

I didn't think of the Arcane interaction. That's very clever, I may just do that!

I think one of the most powerful effects you can do with Zada is a goblin package. You already have powerful parts like Krenko and Kiki-Jiki for absurd token production but adding the following pieces could be beneficial. Goblin Matron, Moggcatcher, and Goblin Recruiter allow for very powerful "Goblin stacks" by searching out for Goblin Recruiter searching for a pile of 4-5 goblins with Goblin Ringleader on top. This allow you more consistent access to some of your most powerful tool like tokens producers and lords.

1empyrean says... #21

I am deliberately not running goblin tribal to differentiate this from a typical Krenko deck and many other Zada decks. I might end up using Moggcatcher anyways, but with so many non-goblin related options for this deck I wanted to see what other options I had, at least until a new set or 2 come out and I update the deck with new cards and new themes.

I swapped out Batterskull for Wurmcoil Engine, and I plan on swapping Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs for Furystoke Giant.

I am leaning towards swapping Eternity Vessel for Soul Conduit. Any thoughts?

November 8, 2015 8:42 a.m.

ComradeJim270 says... #24

I think that Soul Conduit is a solid choice. It has considerably less setup time so it's more likely to actually do what you want it to do.

November 8, 2015 1:07 p.m.

1empyrean says... #25

ComradeJim270 thanks. The ideal set up would be to rush Treasonous Ogre out on turn 2 (turn 1 Sol Ring, cast and use Soul Conduit after putting my life at one, then Accelerate the ogre to finish off an opponent.
