A Zangief deck, based on my Domri's Dickheads deck that you can read about here. So Zangief is a great creature that will intrinsically lead to a very unpleasant game in a duel commander setting, which is how I usually play. Hence, this is a deck that attempts to power him down by not going overboard with fight effects, while featuring many old nostalgic favorites of mine of questionable worth. In Vizier format, Domri, Anarch of Bolas is your vizier.

Note that there's 3 disincentives to casting non-creature spells: Ruric Thar, the Unbowed, Nikya of the Old Ways, and Nullhide Ferox. This is okay, because you only have like 7 non-creatures to cast; 3 planeswalkers named "Domri," two enchantments that give menace, Rhythm of the Wild, and Garruk's Uprising. Your interaction will come from the abilities of creatures and lands, in particular Arena and Magus of the Arena. I said I didn't go overboard with fight effects, not that they don't exist.

Your multiple rampaging creatures may be worth a damn with Goblin War Drums and/or Neyith of the Dire Hunt.

Yes, I'm aware the Soviet Union collapsed before Magic was published, I was alive for both events. That said, all those cards from Legends, the Dark and Revised weren't that far away from it.
