I've always wanted to make a fun, interactive Zedruu deck, but could never really think of what to do with her. I've tried the typical Zedruu deck where you donate awful cards to people, but I never had fun hosing someone's whole deck because of one niche card; I still want my opponents to play. I've tried a Jeskai control goodstuff deck, though it felt weird with Zedruu as the commander especially when I didn't really use her. I thought of doing an equipment weapons shop build with her focusing on going political, but that seemed counterproductive to actually winning while also playing a kingmaker deck (which doesn't appeal to me at all).

So then I thought of building around morphs in a control shell, and it works out perfectly. I can play a morph and donate it to someone for them to use. This builds good relations around the table, creates an interesting political dynamic since you and the donated player know what the morph is yet the rest of the table do not, AND helps you with your upkeep trigger for Zedruu. Another cool side effect is that if you're getting the donated player to help you out, you're essentially taxing them by making them use their mana to help your cause, yet since they have the creature it doesn't really feel bad for them. It's a win-win!

This deck wins through Assemble the Legion, Ulamog, Planeswalkers, Mirror Entity, or a steal/copy effect. The deck tries to get to the late game and can usually win in a one-on-one situation. Cards like Homeward Path and Eldrazi Displacer get all your morphs back to close the game out (Displacer with Perplexing Chimera in the late game is super dirty btw).

This deck is not optimized and could probably be much more competitive with some card swaps. The obvious swap would be to switch in Blightsteel Colossus for Ulamog, perhaps making room for Snapcaster somewhere. However, I love the deck the way it's built now; it gets to play fun/funny cards to donate to players, creates interesting games, and is overall very interactive. The deck does all this without being overly powerful, which is kinda what it wants to do; I don't think its political game would work nearly as well without its wacky weird morphs or if it was chock full of super strong "answer this now or lose" cards. Besides, nothing really beats seeing an opponent's excited expression when you donate them a morph only for them to realize you merely donated a Lumithread Field.

Give the deck a spin, it's a blast for everyone!
