Laboratory Maniac is a great suggestion! I will consider lowering the costs of counters. The Simic Soap is for sure getting in there. Thanks for the suggestions!

also I know you're budget but at least /some/ non-basic lands, preferably that don't slow you down. Hinterland Harbor is pretty good and cheap, Breeding Pool is more expensive but if it can be traded for or afforded I strongly recommend it. Simic Guildgate and Thornwood Falls are dirt cheap. Temple of Mystery has some utility on a pretty cheap land.
utility lands Alchemist's Refuge is pretty solid and also budget.

Fathom Mage is one of my favorite blue green cards and is pretty cheap!

@ asasinater13,Non-basic lands were all added for little additional cost.
@Pookey13, Fathom Mage is cool, but for two mana more, Zegana does the exact same thing. Stormtide will be considered for sure, added to the maybeboard.

That is true! Honestly I always forget about the draw part she has. Whenever I think of zeganna I just think of +1/+1!

not sure if you want any board clearing for when things get messy.what comes up my mind are cards like Cyclonic Rift , AEtherize and AEtherspouts.the rift is the moe versatile ofc ,cost like 5 atm.
August 4, 2015 5:22 a.m.
@raaymakers.nikolas Currently, there is Scourge of Fleets for smaller creatures. I will add at least an AEtherspouts, thanks!

about creatures , Clever Impersonator prob would hav like 13 possibel targets of youre own deck that would be powerfull cast for just 4 mana imagine Murkfiend Liege or Progenitor Mimic lots of fun :) , but even a Woodfall Primus can do the job.A AEtherling can block and blink away, fits any control like deck imo.
August 4, 2015 5:31 a.m.
Aetherling is a bit lackluster, being just a beat stick. Impersonator is Just awesome, will definitely make it.
August 4, 2015 5:50 a.m.
Voidslime is one of my all-time favorite counterspells, and Lorescale Coatl and Chasm Skulker are invaluable in a zegana list. You can check out mine if you want
August 4, 2015 9:48 a.m.
I did have a look at your list (in fact, most Zegana lists) before starting out and I have already ordered a Voidslime. Chasm Skulker is more likely to make simply because it is more than the beat stick that Lorescale Coatl.
My inner Johnny always wants to create something unique, so I decided to go for a tribal Wizard theme with Zegana. It is not fully fleshed out, but I am working on it. All the non-wizard creatures I am including will try to work with that theme (ie Murkfiend Liege works well with both Master of Waves and Patron Wizard) or provide effects outside of the tribe that are vital (Pelakka Wurm gives lifegain and works decently with Zegana, though that is on the chopping block).
August 4, 2015 10:29 a.m.
Tromokratis? It's super cheap and I think it would work well here.
August 5, 2015 7:58 p.m.
Tromokratis is indeed very cool. I was wondering creature type to add more of, and kaiju fit the bill perfectly. This is turning out very thematic! I will be taking in all of your suggesstions and reworking the deck to try and fit everything! Thanks!

Hi fellow Zegana player!
You definitely have to put a Peregrine Drake somewhere. Deadeye Navigator + Peregrine Drake = Infinite Mana, then draw your deck with Deadeye Navigator + Prime Speaker Zegana into Laboratory Maniac for the win. Seems auto-in since you already have all the other cards.
August 7, 2015 6:40 a.m.
@ Khazvv Well yeah, but I do not want to include infinite combos. I really hate those. I prefer incremental advantages and creating favorable boardstates. Patron Wizard + Prophet of Kruphix is how I aim to win.
The goal in the end is to create a flavorful control deck that grinds out its wins. I have never done permission in Commander and is something I want to try out and aim to make it fun for everyone on the table (somehow).
The goal of Deadeye Navigator and/or Prophet of Kruphix are to be a power button - a much more powerful deck with them and a fair deck without them.
August 7, 2015 6:47 a.m.
Okay, I see what you mean.
Then maybe you should try Azami, Lady of Scrolls. It kind of work like the patron I think. I never played with but I played against an Azami deck and it seems cool to play and kind of efficient. Riptide Laboratory is also great if you play enough wizards, and goes well especially with Venser, Shaper Savant and AEther Adept or Wistful Selkie (which are cool with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx btw).
August 7, 2015 7:10 a.m.
@ Khazvv, thanks, those are some great suggestions. Azami will be great in the 99, laboratory is a given, venser is in there already, I never even thought of aether adept, selkie is a bit too lackluster in the face of zegana, but Nykthos will fit nicely with all the I will have!
August 7, 2015 7:17 a.m.
Selkie is not really good on its own but it's great synergy with devotion cards, and curves perfectly with Master of Waves (I didn't know it was a wizard though, I'll maybe give it a try in my deck hehe)
Oh and just another suggestion if you mind. If you begin to build some kind of land toolbox with Nykthos, Riptide Lab, mana fixing and Reliquary Tower (and anything you like actually), maybe you should also try to include things like Expedition Map or Sylvan Scrying. Those are quite good in a deck like this.
August 7, 2015 7:47 a.m.
@ Khazvv, yes I think there will for sure be some land theme and Burgeoning has to make it in there with the obscene card draw of Zegana, but I leave that for version 2 :)
Version 1 will be "all wizards, all day", I will then realize that sucks, modify it to "wizards and lands inc." for version 2, then realize that sucks, etc.
A deck is never finished, but getting cool suggestions is always good!

Garruk, Caller of Beasts is BEGGING to go into your deck man! He's one of the cheaper (money-wise) planeswalkers, especially compared to the other Garruks. I've got him in my Vorel deck and that only has 30 creatures.
August 10, 2015 10:11 a.m.
@badgurfield, planeswalkers really need to do something awesome to warrant inclusion here. Since this garruk basically just draws cards (besides his ultimate), I can cast Zegana and get the same effect in general. Without Doubling Season (which should be part of this deck IMO but it is $$$) or Vorel he is not as good me thinks.

Garruk, Caller of Beasts is ridiculously good in creature based commander. it's important to pay attention to his minus. It puts a creature into play around countermagic, which is extremely good. also consistently drawing cards isn't something to be scoffed at. he /always/ draws gas because he nearly always hits 1 or more creature (I very rarely miss with him. you probably won't miss either). and if his ult resolves (it rarely does) you win the game.

Mystic Genesis and Plasm Capture are a bit too expensive for being used efficiently, I recommend Dissipate and Faerie Trickery instead, exile is strong.
Laboratory Maniac is a phenominal win-con. I mean he's just extremely good with deadeye/zegana.
Caged Sun is not superb in multi-color commander decks, I recommend Simic Signet instead, it's much better early game and carries usefulness into late-game. this is more personal preference though as I prefer more mana-accelerants that come down turns one and two than you have, you're a bit heavy on turn three which can get awkward. Rampant Growth is also a personal favorite.
