I am totally into Zirilan of the Claw at the moment. As a general, he (or she) offers something red doesn't get too often: tutors. This allows you the flexibility to summon whatever dragon you need at the moment. Need a creature killed? Bogardan Hellkite Bam! Want to beat face? Dragon Tyrant will do a lot of damage. Although, I try to avoid specific card searching when playing Commander, Zirilan is just too spicy of an old school legend to not play.

Please keep in mind, Zirilan's new Oracle text reads that you sacrifice the Dragon "at the beginning of the next end step." This allows you to potentially tutor for a dragon at the end of the opponent's turn just before yours and attack with that same dragon on your turn.

My vision for the deck is to utilize Zirilan's ability to call upon as many dragons as possible and recycle the dragons via Tel-Jilad Stylus or a sacrifice effect and then a reshuffling. Alternative ways for summoning dragons include cost reduction and cheating them in.

The most important thing when playing this desk is, obviously, capitalizing on Zirilan's activated ability. As such, here are card notes for all the aspects of the ability:

Making sure your stuff don't get exiled - Tel-Jilad Stylus , Trading Post, Miren, the Moaning Well, High Market, Synod Sanctum, Shivan Harvest, Greater Gargadon, Changeling Berserker, Goblin Bombardment, Sundial of the Infinite and Culling Dais .

Recycling once they hit the 'yard - Elixir of Immortality

Doubling up - Illusionist's Bracers, Rings of Brighthearth, Thousand-Year Elixir, and Minion Reflector

And if Zirilan gets stopped there's always Plan B:

Cheat them in with something else - Sneak Attack, Quicksilver Amulet

Cost Reduction - Urza's Incubator, Cloud Key, and Dragonspeaker Shaman
