As do I. And I removed Magmaquake with the intention of adding it since Ryusei does a Magmaquake for 5. Granted, it doesn't hit planeswalkers but those don't see much play on my group. Sure, every once in a while one pops up but this deck should easily deal with them.

I would cut Bogardan Hellkite. It's worse than Spawn because the likelihood of you having fewer than 5 mountains when casting Spawn is pretty low. Sure, flash is nice, but you're not really playing much in your opponents' with this deck.

Why Braid of Fire when you only run 2 instants? "Any of this mana that isn't spent during your upkeep step will be removed before your draw step begins. You cannot save it to be spent on the card you will draw this turn." Otherwise it looks pretty good. Anything with Sneak Attack and Feldon of the Third Path while running monstrous creatures is great in my book.

Since you're running graveyard recycling/recursion you could run Wheel of Fortune for draw. I would also definitely add Rings of Brighthearth. It not only allows you to copy Zirilan's ability but also Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, Feldon of the Third Path, Magewright's Stone, and your fetch lands.
If you find yourself needing more ramp Solemn Simulacrum and Burnished Hart are both good. Blasphemous Act is a good board wipe and Fervor is good for giving Zirilan and Feldon haste.

What about Zealous Conscripts. Not only does it go infinite with Kiki. It synergizes with Feldon and you should consider adding Strionic Resonator because of all your ETB effects and so on.

Wow! Lots of suggestions. Thank youu guys. I'm going to address them one by one instead of replying to each one of you. Sorry but it makes it a bit easier. So lets see...
Wheel of Fortune is one hell of a card. But it isn't budget-friendly. Around here the cheapest one costs about 10, which is expensive for what I'm considering spending on a single atm. Sure, Sneak Attack is in the deck. But I have it since it came out (not sure if I opened it on a booster or not). Anyway, money is the only reason why that card doesn't make part of the deck. I listed on the maybe board Wheel of Fate but I don't think it to be that good in EDH.
Rings of Brighthearth seem cool. I still prefer Illusionist's Bracers though. From the (still little) test done to this deck, I'd say that mana can be quite scarce and the ammount of mana needed to run Rings makes me cringe about its use.
Solemn Simulacrum and/or Burnished Hart... I don't have any more available Simulacrums but I have several Harts. And the fetching is good. More so with Valakut in play. I'm unsure about what to remove for it though. Added to the maybes.
Blasphemous Act is a cool card and I did consider it at some point. I chose Apocalypse and Jokulhaups instead. They have a broader effect and can combo with Worldgorger Dragon in a very devastating way. Act too but Act gives more chances to my opponents to rise from the ashes while the other 2 don't.
Fervor was dropped for Hammer of Purphoros. As a matter of fact I should run both. But again, don't know what to remove for it. Furthermore, often I cast Zirilan without enough mana to activate it the same turn. That's why I'm not using more hasty options.
Zealous Conscripts is cute. But the playgroup dislikes infinite combos. Sole reason why I won't add it.
Strionic Resonator is interesting. Both Rings and Resonator suffer from the same problem (activation costs) but since I can only use Resonator once per turn, it makes it much more appealing (no need to live open mana for future activations; simple). I wouldn't mind comboing it with Scourge of the Throne for a 3rd attack each turn. Again, added to the maybe board. I don't have any (would have to acquire one) and I don't know what to remove for it. But I like it.
Now... About choices I made!
Bogardan Hellkite has indeed been removed. It is as you say: flash matters little and the 5 damage distributed as I chose is a bit lackluster. So, my question is either Spawn of Ryusei. Spawn targets a creature or a player while Ryusei deals damage to every non-flier...
Braid of Fire isn't there for the instants. The deck doesn't run, as you say, any ammount of instants that woul make this useful. Yet it gets me free activations for Zirilan of the Claw, Feldon of the Third Path, firebreathing dragons and any artifacts with activated abilities (which is the majority of my choices). Its free mana and it works quite well even if only on my upkeep. This card has been tested and proved good enough to stay.
Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

You might consider Ogre Battledriver instead of Fervor.

I hadn't thought of that. My dragons would like it quite a lot indeed. I'm also considering Heartstone.

To free up some space I'll swap my 3 looting sorceries for a Mad Prophet. That way I can add the Ogre and return the Taskmage to the deck.

The Illusionist's Bracers are better than Rings of Brighthearth but they don't affect your fetch land or artifacts. The Rings is better than the Magewright's Stone and Thousand-Year Elixir though because it ends up costing 5 mana to use Zirilan's (and Feldon's) ability twice instead of 7 (it makes Kiki-Jiki's one more to do twice). It does take a bit of mana to utilize multiple times in one turn but using it once to double the tutor is still pretty easy.

I know. But I own 1 Rings (which I'm playing on a different deck that can use them more effectively) and around here its an expensive card. That's why they aren't on the list. Over 5 a piece, way over what I spend on my singles. More so on a budget deck. :)

What do you guys think of Boseiju, Who Shelters All? I can't afford to have my Apocalyose/Jokulhaups countered but I dislike that 2 life cost to add mana...

Karns_Pyromancer says... #14
Seems like a small price to pay for not getting countered.
If you're that worried about it, then you should run it, I think. Or at least test it.
May 22, 2015 10:33 p.m.
The benefits could be game-winning but the 2 life lost really adds up, and it enters tapped. It'll hold you back early game but is good to help you combo out mid-game.

Well, its one more land to be fetch with my Expedition Map. Early game it would suck but I can always find a way to discard it (which should be somewhat easy) if I get it too soon, shuffle it on the deck and use it later on.
I just think that the tempo loss is a bit too much though. I don't feel like removing a Mountain for it. Maybe I'll swap out a non-land for it.
I do need to test it. Thing is opportunities to do so are scarce. Haven't been playing the game as much as I'd like.
Thank you for the input, guys.

Its been quite some time since I last tried this deck. After a couple months without testing it, some very small tweaking, I ended up using it today... And what a beast it is! Thanks for everyone's input so far. It proved invaluable to turn this deck into the brutal face beater that it turned into.
Some of my choices are there mainly to work as silver bullets (I'm looking at you, Siege Dragon). Others are just pure smash (damn you, Dragon Tyrant, you're so sexy at it!), while others are there just for the tutoring skills (Hoarding Dragon is invaluable in this deck).
At this moment I am unsure about using Moonveil Dragon though. Should I swap it out for another dragon (both Moltensteel Dragon and Flameblast Dragon could make the cut), for Burnished Hart (its mana searching capabilities could be extremely good, more so since I'm running Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle) or something more akin to Pandemonium? Decisions, decisions, decisions...
August 16, 2015 10:31 a.m.
Moonveil Dragon I've found to be underwhelming. You can use it to push through those final points of damage if you've got a lot of dragons swinging out but I've not used it in many games. How is Doubling Cube working for you? After seeing it in your list I've been contemplating trying it out.

That's what I feel about Moonveil. I never feel the need to tutor it. I swapped it out for the Hart.
The Cube looks good on paper. Only got it into play twice. One of the times early game without enough mana available to make it work. The second time it worked quite well. I think you should test it.
What I did enjoy though, was my Soulbright Flamekin even though people scorn at it.
August 19, 2015 3:41 a.m.
Soulbright Flamekin is excellent. It gives your dragons trample, ramps, and can convert your generic mana from mana rocks into . Even better if you've got that Doubling Cube out. It also lets you pseudo-save mana from Braid of Fire for later in the turn.
I also never even considered Thornbite Staff; I haven't looked at his erratum in a while and forgot he is a shaman. The Staff seems really good with your sacrifice outlets, also works with dragons that deal damage with ETB effects; you just need more mana to tutor again after you sacrifice. It also goes infinite with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and a sac outlet.

Yeap. I enjoy the Flamekin a lot. Its quite versatile allowing several shenanigans indeed.
Staff is nice and I did consider it for a while. But I already run it on several other decks and thought that I could do without it for the sake of my opponent's. On the other hand, it is great card that works with several creatures (Zirilan, Kiki-Jiki, Feldon...)... Might remove Leyline of Punishment for it...

No. I only own one and that's on my Kaalia. I do need a 2nd and 3rd copies (1 if them for this exact deck). Just haven't bought it yet.
In the future I'll add it. Unless Kaalia parts ways with it... Possibilities... :)

After some last minute chances to make this french EDH compatible for a local tournament, I got 2nd place afer 2 wins (2-0 each) and a loss (1-2) at the final against a Dragonlord Ojutai deck.
I can only say that I love Zirilan more and more, each time I play it. What an awesome commander this guy is.
