Eiyros Making some changes to the deck. I think Leap will make its way in. Torrent Elemental is something I will also consider.

nateblego, ninjaclevs13, Eiyros and TMBRLZ I made some changes to the deck; read the newest update for a full description. What do you guys think? Is there anything else I can change, keeping budget in mind?

The deck and description looks sweet, I'm still a firm believer in Monastery Siege though. What cards are you using to represent Kalitas and Stoneforge Masterwork? They aren't in the TappedOut Database yet. Gather the Pack was a good call. Have you considered Murderous Cut? With all the delve fuel, it would be a really strong removal option, and I think this deck needs some removal. another removal option is Reality Shift, because downgrading a Siege Rhino into a 2/2 that you can kill with a Screeching Skaab is pretty sweet, and it's always really funny to manifest their Ugin, the Spirit Dragon.

I feel like Corpseweft isn't quite worth it, several of your creatures have graveyard recursion and Graveblade Marauder wants to have creatures in your graveyard. I would consider cutting it for Murderous Cut or Reality Shift.

This deck is starting to look really tight, I hope it does good! +1 from me.

A few other thoughts:

Sultai Emissary synergies really well with Nantuko Husk, but not with the rest of the deck. I feel like Nantuko Husk should be primarely used in this deck to repeatedly grow huge by abusing Risen Executioner and Bloodsoaked Champion. Maybe consider cutting it for removal or Taigam's Scheming?

The other thing is Torrent Elemental. It isn't a zombie, but it's amazing with the rest of the deck: you can dump it in your graveyard, delve it, and then bring it back. Once it's on the battlefield, the real fun begins. A 3/5 flyer is strong stats, but it pushes through a ton of damage by basically making all of your guys unblockable. I strongly advise that you put him in the deck, possibly replacing Sultai Emissary as a 2-of.

As for the sideboard, Ultimate Price and Feed the Clan are both good against Atarka Red. Duress is powerful against control and the aforementied Atarka Red, where it can strip the deck of the game winning combo.

I really hope you take this deck to FNM, I'd love to see how it turned out!

nateblego Corpseweft and Sultai Emissary are placeholders for Kalitas and Masterwork. Everything you suggested is good, but I don't know where to fit them. The list is kinda tight ATM, although I could see dropping Screeching Skaab for a combination of the removals. However, I want to keep my creature count up, and especially my Zombie count up. Torrent Elemental, although it is very good and has nice synergy, doesn't fit. I really wish I could run it, but there isn't really anything in the deck right now I can replace. You're on the right track with the sideboard; Atarka Red will probably be our worst matchup. I've actually been running an Assault Formation deck(based off of a deck I found on this site. I can link to it if you want it) at my recent FNMs. It performs okay, but it's so hilarious how it shuts down Atarka Red. I'm going to take a leaf out of that proverbial book and run 4 Disowned Ancestor, 2 Dragon's Eye Savants, and 2 Sultai Charm. Im kinda tired ATM so I won't start it right now, but I'll work on a sideboard and what to board in/out tomorrow for different matchups. Thank you for your continued support of my deck; you've helped a lot!

Love this deck, +1! I would replace a risen executioner for a Tasigur though, and I disagree with the sultan emissary. It's a very useful utility creature. If anything, I would run at least 3.

January 4, 2016 11:14 p.m.

nateblego says... #7

Disowned Ancestor is probably not as good as Sidisi's Faithful, because the Faithful can be a wall against Aggro and also can Unsummon a creature in a pinch. Yeah this deck is gonna have a hard time against Atarka Red, especially considering Bloodsoaked Champion can't even block. The sideboard should cover it though.

There's a six drop zombie from OGW that you could consider:

Eiyros I found Tasigur to be underperforming, so I cut him down to a one-of. Thanks for the +1!

nateblego That is interesting, I could see running it as a one-of. The question, as always, is what to replace. Also, good call on Sidisi's Faithful.

nateblego, ninjaclevs13, Eiyros and TMBRLZ I threw together a rough sideboard idea. I want to get your thoughts on it before I make a sideboard description. I also want to fit Sultai Charm in there somehow.

I see where you're trying to go with the sideboard but you should consider using more typical control tactics for your colors, which you have plenty of.

First of all Erebos's Titan has no place there. Yeah he's a cool big dude but he requires three black, which can prove to be a challenge in a three color deck. You also will have trouble keeping his first condition met, not to mention you have no way to interact with your opponent's graveyard, rendering his second trick utterly useless.

So there's your spot for Sultai Charm.

Consider cards also like Duress, Despise, Negate, Rakshasa's Disdain, and other similar control tech. You could do without the Stratus Dancer, Sidisi's Faithful, and Erebos's Titan.

Also consider cards like Scout the Borders and Gather the Pack for your mainboard.

TMBRLZ Erebos's Titan is to be brought in against control, as they have few creatures(although I don't expect to trigger the first part all that often), and Dig Through Time and Ojutai's Command are things(for his second ability). I might cut him down to 1, but I think he'll do well. Sidisi's Faithful is to side in against aggro, as well as decks running Hangarback Walker. Stratus Dancer is for Jeskai/Jacekai, so I have a way to trade with Mantis Rider. I'm already running 4 Gather the Pack mainboard. Rakshasa's Disdain is interesting, but I do have a good bit of Delve. If you designed the sideboard, what would you have it look like? The things I need to combat are Atarka Red, Mantis Rider/flyers, Hangarback Walker(without giving the opponent a bunch of flyers), and control.

Also what do you guys think of Hissing Quaqmire(new BG manland) over Lumbering Falls?

January 5, 2016 4:18 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #13

Play both.

January 5, 2016 4:40 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #14

As far as your aggro problems I would have to suggest Languish and Despise. Four of Despise if Aggro is a serious threat to you. Sultai Charm also helps but Ultimate Price is faster.

Send to Sleep is a nice stall tactic too.

January 5, 2016 4:42 p.m.

amazingdan says... #15

Im going to have to shoot down Languish, as it board wipes me as well. I can bring back a few of my creatures, but it gets rid of all the tokens I could have potential already made, as well as everything I can't bring back(excluding Tasigur, the Golden Fang and Gurmag Angler). Same with Send to Sleep, as I don't have enough instants/sorcereries to trigger SM and I already have Encase in Ice. Could you give me a full sideboard for this, as you would design it? I have my preferences, but I feel like my soft spot for Display of Dominance, Self-Inflicted Wound, etc. is getting in the way of making the deck the most efficient it can be. I thank you for continuing to help me with this, it really means a lot.

TMBRLZ says... #16

Apologies. I forgot about your tokens. I get off work in a little bit. Remind me and I'll write one up when I'm working at my LGS tonight.

TMBRLZ Reminder: Whenever you get a chance, work on a sideboard for this deck :)

Hissing Quagmire is probably a better option than Lumbering Falls, good call on that. The deck looks really good. I'm on the fence about Graveblade Marauder in this deck. Some of the creatures don't stick in the graveyard very long, and the delve cards exile the rest. I'm not sure Graveblade is the best choice. Maybe replace it with some removal?

January 5, 2016 8:02 p.m.

amazingdan says... #19

nateblego I've been on the fence about him too, for the same reasons. Removal might not be a bad idea. What do you think of Marauder for 2 Ruinous Path?

January 5, 2016 8:44 p.m.

JANKYARD_DOG says... #20

Maybe Infinite Obliteration for side board to get rid of all Jaces. The new G/B mainland could fit here too once it arrives.

January 6, 2016 3:30 p.m.

amazingdan says... #21

Mj3913 I've been thinking of that card for a while, but I don't know where to fit it in the SB. Thoughts?

January 6, 2016 4:57 p.m.

nateblego says... #22

Ruinous Path is heavy on the black mana but worth it if your meta is Planeswalker-heavy. Otherwise I would say replace Graveblade with 2x Murderous Cut, because instant speed is relevant in so many ways, such as killing a creature on their end step and not having to use mana on your turn, and dealing with pesky dashed Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury.

As for the sideboard, Self-Inflicted Wound is perfectly justifiably, as is Encase in Ice. Display of Dominance, on the other hand... I would replace Display of Dominance with either Infinite Obliteration (it wrecks Jaces, Ojutais, and Ulamogs) or Duress. I would also say drop the Erebos's Titan. It's triple black mana and what would you side it in against?

January 6, 2016 11:03 p.m.

nateblego says... #23

Btw, so people don't have to look him up when they see this deck, this is the new Kalitas:

January 6, 2016 11:09 p.m.

amazingdan says... #24

nateblego Erebos's Titan is to be sided in against control, because they Delve/Jace a lot of stuff, and they don't have a lot of creatures(although I don't expect him to be indestructible too many times). I've got Display of Dominance in there because it's an instant-speed Jace killer or removal blanker, but I've heard bad things about it. I have a bit of a soft spot for that cycle, as is evident in my sideboard, but there are some ramp decks in my meta. I'll probably cut Erebos's Titan to a one-of, take out Display of Dominance for Infinite Obliteration, and Graveblade Marauder for two Ruinous Path, because Jace is pretty prevalent in my meta. Once I do that, do you think the sideboard is solid enough to make a description and what to board in for it?

Also, thanks for the pic of Kalitas :)
