Budget token mill. The main win con is to get out Undead Alchemist, usually milling out the opponent the turn I lay him if I have out a couple Altar of the Brood. Trying to keep the price low, but still be competitive. Any help is welcomed. No clue what to do with a sideboard.
Break down:
Mill:
Altar of the Brood - Very useful card for mill, and needed for the combo in this deck. Any time I put any permanent down, and with multiple out, it can really start to hurt. If my opponent has enough creatures in their deck, and Undead Alchemist is out, then the chain goes as follows, put down a perm, or mill opponent, they mill a creature, I get a token, and they mill again
Undead Alchemist - The main guy this deck is built around. Put him out with a couple Altar of the Brood and you'll usually mill your opponent into the ground.
Traumatize - If the game is running slow, or I don't have enough Altar of the Broods out, this really helps get Undead Alchemist going
Breaking
- Just cheap mill, considering replacing for removal or protection
Lich Lord of Unx - An alternate mill/win con. Generates more tokens and his second ability mills a ton mid-game, if it doesn't kill the opponents life first.
Blockers:
Fog Bank - Very usefully against dealthtouch, infect, trample, ect. Very week against burn.
Wall of Frost - Gives me a bigger body than Fog Bank in case I'm running against burn. Also it's ability is wonderful for stalling. It's cmc is higher though, so it's a bit more difficult to get out if I'm trying to put out multiple things in one turn it comes out
Returned Phalanx
- Cheap blocker that can attack to make use of Undead Alchemist's ability. It having 3 power also helps discourage rushdown decks
Utility:
Tragic Slip
- Good source of removal, useful if they throw down a fatty or indestructible.
Dead Weight - Slows down fatties. kills little guys, and puts a hurt on indestructible.
Trinket Mage - Is there to tutor Altar of the Brood if I don't have enough out. Also gives me a disposable body for chump blocking
Dimir Signet
- Smooths out the color and a little bit of acceleration.
Siren of the Silent Song
- Give me a flyer that unless dealt with, mills around three and causes one discard with Undead Alchemist is out. Also works as a nice beater seeing as flying is often ignored in modern
Mizzium Skin - Protection for Undead Alchemist when I put him out. Usually I only need him out for the turn I play him to win, so I chose this card for it's low mana cost and instant speed. Also helps protect against board wipes.
I really don't know what to do with the sideboard, so any help there will be greatly appreciated
