I would remove the Ratchet Bombs for Trepanation Blades
@Yoshiman It does not work because zombies don't deal combat damage anymore (they mill instead).

Does copying take the color/CMC of the copied creature? or does it still remain the same?
Instead i would run something blue to take care of him like a Stitched Drake or a Makeshift Mauler. I'd personally go with the drake as he has evasion and can get passed your oppoents blockers to make more zombie tokens in a pinch.
nice deck though. Have you considered taking out he Oculus and putting in Black Cat instead? Gets another blocker out a turn earlier and nets you card advantage

@ririve my current local meta is rife with just about every token deck you can imagine. I can't afford to drop the Ratchet Bombs at the moment. I have considered Trepanation Blade in the past and it performs pretty good its just hard to find the room for them. Any suggestions on what you think could be dropped for the Trepanation Blades?
@harrydemon117 Yes Evil Twin becomes an exact copy of whatever it copied except it has the "tap to assassinate" in addition that costs UB. Keep in mind that even if it costs UB that doesn't trigger protection since its source is still of the copied color. I actually debated very heavily between Oculus and Black Cat and ultimately decided that the card draw in my favor was more helpful to keep answers in my hand.

I might not be seeing it, but I just don't see how Oculus fits in here at all... with all the zombie action thos 3 horrors seem out of place. What about Gravecrawler?

Seeing this deck motivated me to quit lurking and finally sign up and add my own Undead Alchemist deck. It's nice to see someone else using him instead of the same old UB Zombie deck.
I'd at the very least have Trepanation Blade included in the sideboard so if you go up against a non-token deck you can replace the Ratchet Bombs with something more aggressive. I can't imagine swapping out Gravecrawler for Oculus. The recursion you get from Gravecrawler has saved me in numerous games! I also used him to carry my Trepanation Blade on suicide missions to create zombies.
How often do you end up milling an opponent out as the win? I've found myself actually killing them half the time.

@cobracon7: It was a hard decision to make and at face value I understand why it doesn't make sense. But after numerous NUMEROUS playtests against many decks I've found that Gravecrawler left me wishing for a blocker every game. In addition to that he was effectively walled by most creatures that were dropped by turn 3-4.
I finally decided that in a slow paced control deck like this he doesn't act as much more than a dead card. After looking through all of my other options for 2 CMC or lower creatures I boiled it down to Diregraf Ghoul, Walking Corpse, (both which felt like even less powerful Gravecrawlers), Black Cat, Typhoid Rats, and Oculus. I wanted the card draw in my favor as opposed to discarding an enemies card at their choice or extra creature removal. From my experiences its actually worked out pretty good. The card draw is surprisingly helpful.
@CthulhuAwakens: Glad to hear from a fellow Undead Alchemist player! I was starting to feel very alone in the world lol. I've been mulling over Trepanation Blade for a very long time now. I originally started with it in the deck but had to make room for all of my counterspells/removals and could never really fit it back in.Redirect is only in the sideboard because I was trolling the local Angelic Destiny decks that cropped up a month ago and quickly died out. I could drop the Redirects out for sure to finally make room for them. Thanks for finally giving me an idea on where to fit those in!

+1 for sure. I think zombies and tokens are going to be the decks to beat once Scars block rotates out.
Here's my take on the Zombies as of current format:Zombies
March 25, 2012 10:07 a.m.
you said 50 damage on turn 3? can you explain the turn processes?
March 31, 2012 5:42 p.m.
Wrong deck shashou. Not sure how you wound up on my mill deck when clicking on my modern deck lol. you're looking for deck:20-damage-on-turn-3-lol-reworked
March 31, 2012 9:34 p.m.
I've found Endless Ranks of the Dead to be too slow. By the time I have a working number of zombies out they're swinging away at an opponents deck and making more of themselves. It was originally in here and honestly just felt reduntant. What I mean is I don't need 18 zombies when 9 can swing for lethal as it is. I dunno it just felt like a dead card.

Love me some Undead Alchemist milling fun. If you are looking for card draw though, why not just go with Thought Scour? Helps you with both milling and card draw all for one blue. Just a thought.
April 2, 2012 3:32 a.m.
I did consider Thought Scour but I wanted some chump blocks to relieve the early pressure as well.
April 2, 2012 4:11 a.m.
rjg110 can you explain? I needed a cheap body to throw in the way during the early game. My choices for the cherry on top were.. nothing (Walking Corpse), kill a creature at opponent's choioce (Typhoid Rats), opponent discards a card of their choice (Black Cat), or draw a card (Oculus). I don't see how relieving some early game pressure and gaining card advantage out of it is useless. I'm interested to hear your suggestion regarding what should be run in Oculus's place.

The more I think about it, the more I like Oculus. Good call. I guess the card that stands out to me as not fitting in is actually Grave Titan. How often do you actually get to drop him? 6 mana for two, maybe 4, zombie tokens seems like a waste to me. Would be interested in hearing how he actually plays out for you though. Thinking two Diregraf Captain might be better?

Sorry, missed the fact that you had three Diregrafs already. Still would like to hear about Grave Titan though.
April 2, 2012 10:32 p.m.
Grave Titan acutally has played out to be a pretty solid win condition for me. On average he either wrecks so much face he wins me the game on his own or leaves them in such a poor state on the board that something else on the field will finish them off. I'd say he's one of the stars of the deck from the experiences I've had.

Have you considered Nim Deathmantle to get recursion of ETB, as well as fixing creature types?
April 12, 2012 3:39 p.m.
wow... cool idea, i'll share it with my friend (he's making a similar deck)
April 24, 2012 12:02 a.m.
At0mic0h0lic I ran it for quite some time but ultimately ended up cutting it because it seemed clunky and taxing on the mana.

Hi, I'm relatively new to playing and, when thinking about making my own first deck, I found the Undead Alchemist and was quite taken.
I've been trying to think what cards would be good, and your deck seems obviously well thought out and with more experience than anything I could work.
What I wanted to know was if you though the Lich Lord of Unx or Nightscape Familiar would add anything to the deck? I thought potentially having Undead Alchemist out a turn earlier would be a great help, and the Lord offers a potential one shot once you have your mill going.
I realise this hasn't had a post in a while but it seems to be the best UA discussion from what I've seen. Made me sign up just to post.

@Ristle
Welcome to Tappedout! This site is AWESOME for making decklists and members are active with comments.
The only problem with your suggestions is that his deck is built for the current STANDARD metagame, and the cards you suggested are not legal in the standard format.
Good question though
