This is the Zombie Version of my main deck What does kill you makes you stronger!
Hi there,
Blood Artist and Diregraf Captain synergize well with our undying zombies, Gravecrawler and Slitherhead.
Our creatures have to die which happens, of course, through our opponent (by blocking or destruction) and by ourselves through Bone Splinters, Altar's Reap, Killing Wave and Rapid Hybridization. When we force our creatures to die it gives us (in the best case) a quadruple benefit.
For example: Blood Artist is on the battlefield and you play Geralf's Messenger. Then sacrifice it with Bone Splinters and destroy an opponent creature. With this combo you will deal 6 damage, Geralf's Messenger gets +1/+1 (4/3), the opponent has one creature less and you gain 2 life points. This is possible in turn 4! Exchange Bone Splinters with Altar's Reap or Rapid Hybridization to see the other effects.
Rapid Hybridization gives a 3/3 creature for one mana and its condition to sacrifice a creature even helps us. We can get a 4/4 creature in turn 2 by playing Slitherhead in turn 1 and sacrifice him in turn 2 with Rapid Hybridization and then scavenge Slitherhead.
It comes clear that dying becomes part of this game. Therefore Tragic Slip wont have problems to trigger its morbid.
Killing Wave puts the opponent in a uncomfortable situation but we can benefit from it. With a Blood Artist and some undying creatures on our side, this can be the game winning card!
Diregraf Captain is like our second Blood Artist. Although we miss the lifegain, the fact that every zombie gets +1/ +1 makes this card a perfect fit.
And on top, have a look at the mana curve. Ain't that sweet?
I think there has to be work done on the right proportions of the cards and I hope you will find cards that even fit better in this concept.
Thanks for your interest and have a nice weekend,
ronolulu
