Hello, just a few quick suggestions. I would take out the Diregraf Ghouls for more Gravecrawler, The only downside to Gravecrawler is it can't block first turn as a one-drop....but wait neither can your other one drop. So play the more powerful one. I would add some Cabal Coffers for even more acceleration and perhaps fetch lands Marsh Flats to thin out your deck. I would Take out Coat of Arms for Adaptive Automaton PERSONALLY. but thats just my play style, never been a fan of that card. While the above are all mostly just suggestions. I believe that it is ESSENTIAL to run at least 2x Shepherd of Rot that card is your finisher. you have 10 zombies on the field, your at 12, they are at 10. If they can't kill that two drop its game over.

+1 from me :) wonderful deck, and great coding with all the pictures in the description, made me want to read everything you had to say.
Just a couple of minor suggestions, for the land base. perhaps some Barren Moor would be beneficial for the cycling card draw, potential Bojuka Bog for any graveyard hate, mayhaps some Ghost Quarter for any annoying Inkmoth Nexus.
Altogether awesome.

I think a Gempalm Polluter or two would make the deck just about unstoppable. +1

The music plugin is acting incorrectly, causing terrible glitches with Chrome, including inability to pause. BUT I LOVE IT ANYWAYS.

oh wow. well, it would probably completely fuck up my deck, but if you don't mind, could you check out my Standard Zombie deck entitled, deck:apocalyse-swing maybe give me some advice or credit?
I have still to yet find a deck that has the exact same idea as mine.

Hello Everyone!
Thank you so very much for your wonderful suggestions! For this week's update, I carefully went through all of the comments posted under this topic as of Feb. 3, 2012.
I am very pleased with the advice offered to me during the development of this deck. To promote fast, comprehensible reading, the update log "format" is a shorter, concise bullet list. Without further ado, I would like to explain the changes incorporated into the creation of the fifth and final revision.
Change Log:
- Replaced three Unholy Grotto with two [[Cabal Coffers] and one Unholy Grotto
- Cleaned up Maybeboard
- Added new Card of the Week article
- Finalized deck list
- Added 'Additional Improvements' Section
- Miscellaneous description changes
Thank you so very much for the helpful suggestions that were submitted this week in the comment section. I especially appreciate thefiremind's well-thought recommendations, explaining every single one of his choices in detail. I have seriously considered replacing all four copies of Diregraf Ghoul with Gravecrawler. It is true that neither of these one-drops can block on the first turn; however, I am counting on the former to successfully chump block in the game's subsequent rounds. In my opinion, I would rather sacrifice a Diregraf Ghoul than give up an Undead Warchief or Death Baron. However, thank you so much for your suggestion!
I have considered implementing Cabal Coffers on two separate occasions throughout the development of this deck. The first time around I implemented the card onto the deck's mainboard and playtested with it multiple times. After many runs, I realized that since the land does not begin to yield profits until the fourth turn, it may not be worth implementing the card. However, after being reminded of its usefulness a third time by thefiremind (thank you so much!), I feel that I may lose out on an amazing mid-game mana acceleration opportunity if I do not include it. Therefore, I have decided to list exactly one copy of Cabal Coffers. I feel that implementing a single copy will allow me to enjoy the possibility of enormous mana acceleration without incurring interference in my ability to draw much-needed Swamps. Originally, my card list (pre-first revision) ran two Shepherd of Rots. However, I realized that I would never accumulate enough Zombies for the damage wrought by the creature's activated ability to prove significant; therefore, I have decided not to include this otherwise extremely valuable creature in the deck. However, thank you so very much for your wonderful input and recommendations!

I have long considered switching the land base to incorporate either graveyard hate (in the form of Bojuka Bog, card advantage (with Barren Moor, or land destruction Ghost Quarter). However, in the end I felt that focusing on the deck's main strategy of playing and reanimating Zombies would prove the most effective. As a result, I have decided not to alter the deck's land base. Nevertheless, thank you kram130 so much for your wonderful, wonderful recommendations!
Again, thanks for all of the thoughtful comments! As I am still relatively new to Magic the Gathering, I would very much appreciate any further suggestions and/or constructive criticism that you may have to offer.
P.S. Unfortunately, the music player seems not to work so well across browsers. As such, it has now been removed. Sorry, Gambit!

i like it, but the fact that it is not standard makes me sad (i can't play it). Heartless Summoning could go well in it, because the -1/-1 would be countered by the multiple +1/+1s, you also might want to put the knew Mikeas (don't know his name) even if he costs 6 mana.

Still VERY new to magic, but I think (keyword there) I know a good combo when I see one, and the walking undead have always been my thing, so, here goes...
Abattoir Ghoul and Sanguine Guard both have massive synergy with death baron, as first-strike + death touch often = instant kill on everything you may send it up against, with no retort.
In the case of the Abattoir Ghoul however, this can be a necrolord-send. Fighting a 20/20 with trample but nothing else? Send the Ghoul! First Strike + Death Touch = Instant Kill + 20 health life-gain. That seems to be the only real weakness of this deck, is low life-totals and the possibility of someone spelling you to death, so... Possible remedy for that, if you like the idea. Also removes the need for chump blockers as you can gain that health back.

That's very true TMoody! Another great card for the deathtouch/lifelink synergy is Basilisk Collar. Any deck full of creatures with first strike (i.e. a staple for knights in white) paired with that card is a fearsome combo.
Anyways! For deck comments..
You are running 24 lands, with a curve that runs no higher than a few 5cmc or 6cmc cards. So you should have mana to spare, generally. Are you sure you don't want to include any more Grave Titans? You also have some Jet Medallions and ever-critical Undead Warchiefs in there. There is also no card draw to refill your hand. So with all of this extra mana and average card costs (with benefits limited to their mana scope) of only 2,3, or 4 mana drawing a land card when you might need a creature can really risk throwing off your tempo, ESPECIALLY in legacy. Maybe consider removing 1 or 2 lands, or 1 or 2 of your Jet Medallions at the least.
Also, I wouldn't suggest this in most cases, but Door of Destinies may be a better choice than Coat of Arms. If you can really get it going, it's a far better choice because the counters stay on it and only build in number. Furthermore, you have so many reanimating creature cards going on (Unholy Grotto, Lord of the Undead Gravecrawler, Geralf's Messenger, etc.) and token creation (Cemetery Reaper, Grave Titan, etc.) that you could pump up the door to be of better use to you than the Coat of Arms. Don't forget about black/artifact utility cards that have proliferate for it either.
And this is also not to mention Coat of Arms's indiscriminate ability can work to your disadvantage, since it benefits any tribal cards your opponent is running too. What if you played against a force of indestructible knights, a Day of Judgment was cast, and you were now facing a bunch of further juiced creatures from your own card? If you had the door, only your own creatures would be benefited. You could cast Damnation and play another zombie card right away, and the stats would be huge.
If you can get a lifelink option in here, Shepherd of Rot would be a valuable asset to your deck. If you ever splashed white, even to add something like the new Vault of the Archangel, the shepherd combos with cards like Personal Sanctuary very well.
SO! Overall, my suggestions are to -2 land or -2 Jet Medallion (do you really own two?) for maybe +1 Damnation and +1 Grave Titan. Then -2 Diregraf Ghoul and +2 either Gravecrawler or, probably better, +2 Sanguine Guard. I would probably run four of the guards if I were you. It's an invaluable combat card for this deck.

Oh and don't rule out Stillmoon Cavalier either! He could be verryyyy useful here :)
Also, If you ever get a chance, check out my deck deck:the-western-way-of-war-legacy-of-knights and tell me what you think! It's pretty much the white alternative to zombies in legacy. For black in legacy, #1 = vampires, #2 = zombies. For white, #1 = soldiers, #2 = knights. Why do the cool tribes have to get shafted? :(

I don't know if it was mentioned but I've always had fun with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth paired with Zombie Master. Even though all your lands are already swamps, but it will turn Cabal Coffers into a swamp as well increasing your mana flow that much more.
