Value Never Dies. Never.
What is up everybody, my name is -Sylex- and I'm bringing you today the second installment of my Pauper deck series.
This UB build is focused around getting a ton of value with Undying Evil, sac outlets and ETB/die effects, much like my other deck Deliciously Expendable Friends (Pauper).
The core of the deck remains the same and the blue splash is for cards such as Mulldrifter and
Floating-Dream Zubera
which are able to generate huge card advantage with Undying Evil.
Just a little reminder of the deck's strategy:
Step 1. Carrion Feeder/Viscera Seer Step 2. Expendable creature Step 3. ???? Step 4. Profit
Here's the breakdown of the deck.
Sacrifice Outlets/Enablers :
Carrion Feeder : This zombie is what enables the whole strategy of the deck. It turns your ''meh'' creatures into broken draw engines while getting bigger and bigger permanently.
Viscera Seer : This card functions as an additionnal sac outlet for the deck. The scry is nice because it helps finding your good cards.
Undying Evil : This card is truly broken in this deck. Not only does Undying give you an extra ETB trigger, it also puts a counter on the creature ! It can even serve as an answer to non-exile removal spells.
Expendable Creatures :
Ashen-Skin Zubera
,
Floating-Dream Zubera
: Theses creatures don't look like much on the surface, they're really good when used in combination with Undying Evil.
Here's the trick. Let's say you've got a sac outlet on the field. If you cast Undying Evil on a Zubera, sac it then put the
Floating-Dream Zubera
trigger on the bottom of the stack. If you do so, the zubera will come back before his first trigger resolved and you can sac it again, to draw four cards.
Mulldrifter : Drawing cards is good and Mulldrifter draws a bunch of cards.
However, Mulldrifter has another purpose in this deck. The card gets even more broken when it's combined with Undying Evil. What you want to do here is cast Mulldrifter for it's evoke cost then target it with Undying Evil before it gets sacrificed. You'll end up with a 3/3 flyer and a grip full of cards.
Mortician Beetle : This bug is a very efficient threat. It gets out of control pretty quickly when combined with Carrion Feeder or Viscera Seer.
Sultai Emissary
: This card leaves a good body when it dies. It's excellent in attrition based matchups and it helps finding zuberas.
Others :
Unearth
: This card is very versatile in this deck : it returns value creatures to the battlefield and helps in comboing off with Zuberas.
Grim Harvest
: This card is slow, but it can take over the game when it's paired with
Ashen-Skin Zubera
. If you can recur
Ashen-Skin Zubera
, cast it during your turn and sac it during their draw step, you can lock the opponent out of their sorcery-speed interaction.
Tragic Slip : Morbid is so easy to enable in this deck that this card might as well be read as : Target creature gets -13/-13, which is great because it kills everything that you'd want
Bonesplitter : This cheap artifact helps at speeding up the beatdown. It also makes your 1/1
Sultai Emissary
and 1/2 Zuberas able to get past 2 and 3 toughness blockers.
