The Combo
The main deck idea is build around the combo Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar which gives infinite enter and death triggers. Lets see how this engine works:
- Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar and another Zombie in play
- Sacrifice Gravecrawler to Phyrexian Altar.
- Gain from LTB trigger from Phyrexian Altar
- Use to cast Gravecrawler
- Rinse and repeat
Alternatives for Gravecrawler
Use Liliana, Untouched By Death to cast Zombies from the graveyard. The Combo Thornbite Staff + Zul Ashur, Lich Lord with the untap on every death trigger does the same. In this scenario no other Zombie on the battlefield is required. There are four Zombies costing in the deck, providing some extra effects on the enter and death triggers.
Reducing Casting Costs
For playing Zombies (or other spells) with a a higher mana value then there are cost reducers in the deck. This works with Zombies in hand and in graveyard. Most of these cards also give an extra bonus to the deck.
Zombies with a built-in enter or death trigger
With the cost reducers some nice Zombies can be played with Liliana, Untouched By Death or Thornbite Staff + Zul Ashur, Lich Lord from the graveyard.

Triggers on another Zombie enter or death trigger
These Creatures provide an extra trigger when another Zombie enters or dies. Most of them are in the deck to draw or mill more cards. The Commander can bring back milled cards from the grave. Also some have a game-ending effect.
Alternative for Phyrexian Altar
Pitiless Plunderer makes a Treasure on a death trigger. Pitiless Plunderer can be an alternative to Phyrexian Altar when combined with a Sac outlet. Four cards are added as a free Sac Outlet, providing some extra effects on the Sacrifice triggers.
Lifedrain alternative for Phyrexian Altar
In this scenario Warren Soultrader can be an alternative to Phyrexian Altar because the Lifedrain negates the life loss from Warren Soultrader. Four cards are added for Lifedrain. All of them providing some extra effects.
Infinite mana and Onyx Talisman
With the Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar combo these cards make an extra Treasure or more sacrifice fodder. With infinite mana Onyx Talisman can untap the Commander whenever a black creature is played.
These cards make provide more mana or extra sacrifice fodder when recurred with the Commander. When gaining each loop Onyx Talisman can untap Zul Ashur, Lich Lord.
