Zurgo Deck Description

This is a Zurgo EDH build that IS NOT a Voltron-style deck. This is meant to be an all out Mongol-style horde deck that really captures the essence of the Mardu. I love the Mardu aesthetic and I love a good creature-based aggro deck. I've always been a sucker for trying to make one work in EDH/Commander. Well, I think I've accomplished my goal!!!

This deck may look like assorted jank, but do not underestimate it! It's low curve allows you to pump out cheap creatures early, then buff their power with the myriad of "anthem" style effects. The number of Warriors in the deck allow for some nice tribal support. Zurgo being a Warrior himself helps as well. The removal and support cards are cheap as well, so you are often able to play a creature and be able to play some form of support card in the same turn.

This deck has surprised many people and can change a game quickly. This deck can theoretically be better in a casual 1v1 game, but it has won games in 4 man pods in a Commander league. It is not to be underestimated!

What makes the deck dangerous is the fact that the deck can very easily win without you ever having to cast your commander. Zurgo often sets in the command zone as a distraction. Control players have often let my army slip through because they are holding their control/removal in hand waiting for me to cast Zurgo. If the reverse is true and they use their resources trying to control my army, then they usually don't have the gas left to deal with Zurgo in the late game.

So, don’t be afraid to leave comments and suggestions! Just please remember I want this deck to remain as casual as possible... and as Mardu-themed as possible as well!
