@CrimsonKing & NarejED : I have a Command Beacon set aside but I don't think I'll add it just yet. I already have 5 lands that produce colorless mana and I think all of them are more useful than this which requires late game use and unfavorable conditions. I'd definitely run it in a multiplayer variant if I ever get around to building one.
@K34: I can't justify running Ashes to Ashes when I have access to white removal which is cheaper and faster. If I was playing mono black I'd definitely run it. Ghostly Prison / Propaganda like you said are more for multiplayer but even still between Solitary Confinement and Stasis this does well enough without them. Thanks for the suggestions. Also sideboards are only ever used in commander as an optional house rule (which my playgroup doesn't use).
@Ender666666 & Outriderblue: Thanks for the support! It means a lot!
@enpc: I had Standstill in a previous version but didn't feel like it had enough impact during playtesting.
@NarejED: In regards to the new mulligan rules: I've added an Island to my land count ($$... ouch!), added Timetwister like you suggested as it recycles auras (among other things) both in hand and graveyard (and can be snapcaster'd again later), put Brainstorm back in to compliment Scroll Rack, Mistveil Plains & Jace, the Mind Sculptor as a quick solution to "Oh crap it's in my hand" syndrome. Brainstorm's also nice for Isochron Scepter :D
@11XIII: I switched out Oblivion Ring for Grasp of Fate initially... then figured if it's meant for 1v1 then O-ring is better (less intensive mana requirement) and comes in foil haha. I'll probably switch it back begrudgingly lol. Replenish does the job of Open the Vaults for only me and for cheaper while hardly even needing to be used, so redundancy in this instance isn't favorable. I've honestly thought about Overburden in the past and usually when I see it played it actually helps opponents rather than hindering them because if they miss their land drop then they basically get a free mana.

Hmm, somehow I forgot to mention this in my last post, but have you ever considered adding Flagstones of Trokair? With Armageddon and Cataclysm being run mainboard, along with the MLD opponents occasionally run, it seems worth adding. I've been testing in ZPPoP, and it's surprisingly useful.

With how quick Zur comes out does pact of negation help you all that much.
February 19, 2016 12:09 a.m.
Ernville Pact of Negation is actually really good. It allows you to tap out if need be and still provide protection for Zur. You may not need it every game but you will be happy you have it when you do need it. It is not a cut I would make to my own deck.

Fair enough. I guess I'll make it a point to get it. If you haven't check mine out and give me advice please.

Anguished unmaking looks fun. Can't wait for SOL to drop so I can get my hands on one.

@NarejED: Honestly Flagstones of Trokair seems like a pretty solid swap for a plains, I can't believe I never thought of it... And yes, I will most definitely be hunting down a foil Anguished Unmaking as soon as SOI comes out! I'm thinking it'll probably replace Mortify seeing as I find that I usually use Vindicate on lands.

First of all, I really like this deck, and I'm looking to make one myself, but I find myself stuck. I really really want to use Starfield of Nyx simply because it feels like a really fun cheeky card, but I'm finding it difficult to find a decent Zur deck that runs it. I was wondering if you had toyed around with it at all. Since I know it would require a vastly different deck, one built around mass enchantment creature protection and nontutorable enchantments, I'd still appreciate your thoughts

@killsdazombies: I myself haven't tinkered with Starfield of Nyx but if I were to incorporate it in a deck I'd honestly start with the relevant colored Gods; having indestructible beat sticks with awesome abilities seems like a smart way to go. I'd use Zur as utility to find an enchantment for whatever the current situation needs (which would then double as a creature body), and fill the deck with 5 or so tutors so you can easily find Starfield of Nyx or Opalescence as an alternative. As far as protection goes I'd run a lot of counterspells, redirects, blinks (ex. Ghostway, Eerie Interlude, and Faith's Reward), & shroud (Greater Auramancy and Fountain Watch). Mesa Enchantress would be a good addition for card draw.

silly old foil Foil.
Not that good though coz only 6 islands...?
May 12, 2016 12:14 a.m.
So are you going to get a foil Mana Drain now that it's a thing?

@ jazzarazza: actually including the dual and shock lands it's 10 islands which ends up being viable.
@ enpc: Yea. I'm working on it but they're in short supply and I've got to save up a bit first haha.

Saw the deck looks cool. saw the price they calculated and DIED. 9 of the most expensive cards aren't even calculated in to the price... well done.. you have out done yourself.
I have been lazy about posting my esper build. I might have to post it now.

Curious, why don't you use Boseiju or Notion Thief?
June 23, 2016 1:43 a.m.
just a thought for when you have zur enchants in hand Arcanum Wings I have personally aura swapped it and an Eldrazi Conscription on my zur my to the dismay of my buddies

@sonalexander: I don't run Boseiju, Who Shelters All because it comes in tapped for one (making it too slow) and secondly the damage could really destroy me with all the aggro Zur normally attracts coupled with Necropotence. As for Notion Thief I can only really see it being useful against certain deck types (blue decks mostly) and therefore being a dead draw the rest of the time (and also expensive mana wise) I really don't think it's worth it.
@tiassa: I find Arcanum Wings is a neat and highly viable combat trick but it's super redundant here being that I really only have Zur as a target and he already has flying and can just get any enchantment he wants anyways. Indeed it would be useful if I happened to have what I wanted to tutor for in my hand but I just can't afford to cut anything for it. I use Brainstorm for that as a cheaper, more reliable and more advantageous way to do the same thing.

I think I really concentrate on making sure that everything works together and run the Sun Titian, I wanted to make sure that all my enchantments, and all my creatures, or something that can be brought back with that card also. I really like Karmic Justice, Ensnaring Bridge, Story Circle, Underword Connections, & Nevermore :)

@Spoosky: Zur is actually banned in most tournaments sadly... Otherwise for sure I'd be testing it out

Have you considered Propaganda and Ghostly Prison as sideboard tech for multi-player games?
