I wanted to do a specter tribal build, because I fell in love with Sedraxis Specter from MM3. So grixis was my thought, with Marchesa, the Black Rose or Nicol Bolas at the helm. Marchesa would have made the creature strategy better, but Bolas would have fit the theme.

I realized that discard wasn't enough, and that it needed to synergize with enchantments that relate to discard. So in comes Zur and his frosty demeanor. I lose red, but gain white, and now my commander tutors and casts my enchantments needed for discard.

Also since Zur hails from Coldsnap, it's only appropriate to use the Snow-Covered lands from his homeworld.
